Revealing mistakes: When Jackson shows his driver's license in Yellowstone Park, his name appears on the card as "Jackson, Curtis." It should be either "Curtis, Jackson" (Last name, First name) or be written without the comma. FAIR: It's explained that the events are happening way before schedule, so this was not taking place in December 2012, but earlier in the year (most likely the summer). Therefore the summer Olympics in London could indeed be happening at the time. PLOT: Sasha plans to refuel the Antonov on Hawaii, but since Hawaii is destroyed and they don't have enough fuel they have to do a water landing. Gordon mentions they lost the landing gear when they took off in Vegas so that won't be in the way. How, then, were they planning to land to refuel and take off again like originally planned? Continuity: When the decision to open the bays of the arks and let in the crowds of people, the scientist tell the captain to open the bay door, and the clock says 14:39 until impact. The camera then switches angles and the captain responds, the time then says 14:42 until wave impact. CHAR: Yuri refers to the An-225 is Russian. It is in fact Ukrainian, built by the Antonov Design Bureau during the Soviet Era. PLOT: Near the beginning of the movie, a massive and sudden tide hits the ocean liner Genesis while she is preparing to sail, making her collide against the docks quite hard. Such an impact would have caused significant damage to the ship and the need for immediate repairs; yet the trip is neither delayed nor canceled. (Furthermore, when we later see the Genesis at sea, the ship shows no signals of having crashed.) Continuity: When the children are on the camping trip they are bitten by mosquitoes. Both have several fairly serious bite marks on their faces. However in the scene in which they return home (the following day) their faces appear unblemished. CHAR: Sasha crosses oneself while flying the Antonov, but he does it like the catholics, from left to right, while over 97% of Russians are Orthodox, and they do it right to left. Yuri Karpov also makes the same goof. FAIR: The flight range of the Antonov AN-225 Russian aircraft is 15400 kilometers, which is way more than enough to reach China. Considering the panic on the ground the plane is not necessarily fully fueled when they leave, however. GEOG: In the scene where CNN shows the destruction of Rio de Janeiro and earthquakes ravaging South America, immediately after it shows Mexico City being devastated by quakes. Mexico City is in North America not South America. CHAR: The news report about the mass suicides report suicides by followers of the Mayan quiche (one syllable like the food) calendar. "Quiché" has two syllables, with the emphasis on the second syllable. Revealing mistakes: When Curtis is racing to get his family out of their neighborhood and the limo flies into the air, the wheels aren't moving. GEOG: The kids are wearing sleeveless shirts and shorts in Yellowstone in the tent. Even in the summer the temperature drops drastically at night. The kids would have been in danger of hypothermia. Continuity: While camping, Jackson Curtis' children call him to the tent. Jackson, in response, places his laptop down in the folding chair in front of him and moves to the tent. In the next shot, the laptop is clearly atop the ice chest and then moves back to the chair for the following shot. FAIR: During the ark scenes, the giraffes are shown to be making sounds - this is indeed possible. It is a myth that giraffes do not make sounds or that they do not have vocal chords. Giraffes make a quiet bleating kind of sound like sheep or goats but they do not do it very often because they rely more on body language to communicate. SYNC: The sound from the engine of the light twin does not match the type of engine powering it. It is heard to be a piston engine, but when it is shut down, it spins slowly down to a stop. A piston engine would stop quickly much like a car engine does. FAIR: When the camera pans to Caesar's Palace before the boxing match, you can see for a small moment the Las Vegas Strip and the Caesar's Palace marquee showing Bette Midler's "The Showgirl Must Go On" poster. While Midler's last show is slated at the end of January 2010, it is entirely possible that Midler's show has a second run in 2012. PLOT: Assuming that neutrinos have caused to heat the earth core, what was the cause of cooling it in such short time? CHAR: At the G8 summit in Canada the President (Danny Glover) enters the conference room and asks to be left alone with the heads of other states. The Russian President then whispers to his interpreter to stay put : "Ti ostajes" but he does that in the Serbian/Croatian language and not in Russian. When the President (Glover) speaks out again, the Russian interpreter can be heard in the background translating in Russian, but again when the Russian president tells his interpreter that he is free to go ("Mozes ici") he says it in Serbo Croat, not Russian. FAIR: There is no such thing as an Antonov AN-500. However there is an Antonov 225 Mriya. This might deliberate from the filmmakers since the AN-225 does not have a rear loading door like the AN-124. It is also entirely possible that given the movie is set a few years in the future, such a plane may have been developed by then. FAIR: When Jackson is camping with the kids, Kate calls and tells him to bring them home early, which he does. However, he then comments he is late for work. While Jackson had at least one more night of vacation planned, it is entirely possible he spoke with Yuri during the drive back and told him he would be able to come in to work. Fact errors: At the end of the movie, the sky is clear, sunny, and relatively warm. However, the massive eruption at Yellowstone alone would be enough to place the entire world in a nuclear winter. Revealing mistakes: On one of the first trailers/previews the calendar shown moving and forming into position on CGI at the beginning is not the "Maya" but the Aztec Calendar, another pre-Columbian civilization from Mexico. A very interesting mistake regarding a film about the apocalypse foreseen on the "Maya" not the "Aztec" calendar. GEOG: When the camera pans to Caesar's Palace (on the boxing night), the Bellagio is on it's south. But as the camera pans to the south of Las Vegas Strip (showing destruction of Vegas), the building south of Caesar's becomes Paris Las Vegas. Fact errors: Chinese helicopters are seen airlifting numerous different kinds of animals to the tunnels where the Arks are located, but they are flying at extremely high altitudes (over the Himalayas) in weather cold enough for a thick layer of snow to remain unfrozen on the ground. Between the altitude, the temperatures, and the frigid wind blowing past them in flight, the African animals would die of either hypothermia or oxygen deprivation. Revealing mistakes: An old portable TV (with an old rotary dial tuner) is shown with a scrambled picture on screen as if it's been watched recently. Without some digital converter, you wouldn't even be able to get the bad picture. Although during the emergency it might have been decided to broadcast again on analog. Revealing mistakes: When Jackson and Gordon are in the back part of the truck, driving to the arks, you can see that they are going very fast, but their hair has no movement. FAIR: The Antonov in which the main characters flee to China does not crash because of empty fuel-tanks, it crashes because the engines fail due to the thick dust in the air. So the explosion when it finally hits the ground after falling of the cliff, indicating a large amount of fuel left, is entirely reasonable. Revealing mistakes: In the movie, neutrinos interact with the earth's core and cause temperature to rise. But, since they come from the sun, the first matter they should interact with is the water in the oceans, and as result our oceans should start to boil. For some undeclared reason in the movie, only the earth's core interacts with them. Revealing mistakes: When Curtis drives the Bentley out of cargo hold of the Antonov, he fights to retain control of the vehicle and bring it to a stop. Therefore he should be able to see the Antonov and the other driverless cars move away from him in the same direction. Instead, the cars ignore physics and move away from the plane towards him. FAIR: When Washington DC is flooded by the tsunami wave, it is at night. The previous shot was of the Genesis off the shore of Japan, and it was also at night. Some said it can't be nighttime in both Washington DC and Japan. However, it was mentioned in the movie that the new south pole is somewhere in Wisconsin due to shifting of earth crust, therefore Washington DC should be in the polar night zone. Alternatively, the cloud from the Yellowstone explosion could very easily be blocking out the sun in D.C. (hence the ash falling when the President wakes up to see the wall of water coming at him). FAIR: The White House Chief of Staff would normally never in a position to succeed the office of the President of the United States. There is always a designated survivor amongst the line of succession to maintain continuity of government. However, it is stated that the Vice President is already dead and the House Speaker is missing. Considering the amount of confusion, it is possible that no other cabinet members were able to board Air Force One before it left Washington. If there were, he would not have appointed himself Acting President. GEOG: When the #3 ark is in risk of colliding with the north face of Mount Everest, a view of a massive mountain with generally jagged pinnacles, uneven ridges and couloirs strewn across most of the mountainside. The general shape of the mountain is also very much in the shape of a pointy pyramid with pretty steep slopes on the ridges. The north face of Everest in reality looks very different with a prominent stretch of ridge (the north east ridge) that slowly rises from an elevation of 8500 meters up to the summit at 8850 meters, thus forming a massive wall with a large amount of snow covering it's north face. With little to nothing protruding except for three rock steps, it is very much unlike the mountain depicted witch has pinnacles strewn across the upper slopes and ridges. Even though the west ridge of Everest (which marks the other border of the north face) is slightly steeper and more jagged that too has no major resemblance to the mountain in the movie. Revealing mistakes: The footage of riots in London purportedly at the 2012 games is in fact from the Poll taxes riots of the early 1990s. This is quite clear from the uniforms, and the footage is relatively iconic in the UK. PLOT: A 1,500-meter-high wave would barely flood Denver, much less the valleys around Mount Everest, which peaks at over 29,000 feet (8,800 meters) high. Continuity: When they arrive to the lake in Yellowston, Lilly is left of Noah, but in the next shot, Lilly is right of Noah. FAIR: From room containing the Mona Lisa, it's not possible to see the Eiffel Tower. However, this movie takes place in the future, and thus it is possible that the Mona Lisa has been moved to another room or another building by then. Fact errors: The Sistine Chapel has 9 sub pictures displayed horizontally. In the movie they put immediately after the picture of "God separating day from night", the "Creation of Adam". In reality there are 2 other sub pictures between the two. Fact errors: The ocean liner Genesis would not be sunk by a tsunami: in the open ocean, tsunamis flatten out and form very long, but very shallow (less than 1 meter high) swells that are unnoticed by shipping. The only way a tsunami would "break" over the ship would be if it hit shallow water or a sand-bar, which such vessels routinely avoid. GEOG: When Charlie is broadcasting in Yellowstone he says he is at the top of Mount Bighorn. No such peak with that name exists in Yellowstone. Additionally, when Charlie is at the peak he passes the wooden sign "Mount Bighorn - Elevation 2500 feet". But the lowest elevation in all of Yellowstone is 5314 feet, therefore, this Mount Bighorn is completely fictitious. FAIR: While in Charlie's trailer, he tells Jackson to "download his blog", but the Windows 7 superbar clearly shows the computer to not be online (small red X over the monitor icon near the clock). However, if the computer is setup to allow VPN connections to it, you can still be connected to the internet and have the red X over the monitor icon. The red X would then show that there are no users connected via VPN to your machine. Revealing mistakes: When the Tibetan village is evacuated in the beginning of the movie, the ridge for the arks is shown. There is a massive explosion (due to construction purposes probably) seen and heard in the village coming from that ridge. But because of the distance, the explosion should first be seen and after a view seconds be heard - sound travels a lot slower than light. In the movie they are perceived simultaneously. Revealing mistakes: While the ark containing the main characters is being tumbled on at least 2 axes, the water level in the semi-flooded rooms remains stable, as if the ark were over calm waters. Continuity: After Curtis fixes the hydraulics a cut can be seen on Anheuser's lip. There is a deleted scene in which Anheuser insults Laura Wilson and Helmsey punches him - the scene was removed but the wound it inflicted wasn't. Fact errors: Caldera eruptions do not occur as a single, massive explosion as depicted; they in fact occur as a series of eruptions along a circular series of fissures. Fact errors: Just before the eruption at Yellowstone, we see the engines on the small plane being shut down. That is a piston powered Cessna. Piston engines don't wind down like that (only turbine engines do). They should slow then come to an immediate stop - it's obvious that they are CGI. Fact errors: The use of helicopters would not have been possible at the site of the arks. If the arks are built at a height that puts them on a similar altitude as the north face of Everest (rising from an elevation of 8,500 meters up to the summit at 8,850 meters), then it is clearly too high to use helicopters. Even a Chinook running flat out with almost zero payload has extreme difficulty reaching 8,000 meters as the air is too thin to support them. Height is measured from the sea level, which is now much higher, so there is no problem with helicopters flying this high now. Continuity: Yuri Karpov and other Green Boarding Pass holders are being head by the supervisor. Yuri Karpov hits the supervisor out of the way, to run to the leaving Ark. But in the scene after that, where Adrian Helmsley and Carl Anheuser are arguing about letting Yuri Karpov and other Green Boarding Pass on the Ark; behind Laura Wilson you can see the same "supervisor" behind her watching the argument. Revealing mistakes: In the scene where the director of the Louvre is killed, the car he drives is a Citroen DS. But the views inside the car show a different model. The rear-view mirror is located at the top of the windshield, but a DS would have it near the dashboard. Fact errors: After John Cusack's character returns to LA after his trip to Yellowstone, he's miraculously able to pick up Woody Harrelson's pirate radio station some 1000 miles away. While some high-powered 50,000 watt AM stations are known to skip their signals off of the ionosphere and reach listeners a thousand miles away, it would be impossible for a personal radio transmitter to reach that far. Given the instruction to 'download my blog', it was more likely, even with today's tech, that the broadcast was being streamed up to an internet radio site. It is far less clear, though, how this was being picked up on car radio in 2012 with normal AM/FM tuning. CHAR: When the Antonov is departing from Las Vegas, the tower calls on the radio: "Tower to Antonov." Standard radio format is "[You] this is [me]." Also, if the radio is on the tower frequency, there's no reason for the tower to say who's calling. GEOG: Yellowstone is close to 1000 miles from LA. But the time lines in the movie (trip to park, trip back) would imply the trips were just a few hours, as opposed to the reality of two or more days, each way. Crew: in the scene just after they decide to open the ark gates Gordon and the Chinese man fall, just before they fall you can clearly see the wires that are use to support them Fact errors: A couple of times during the movie phone communication cut due to the communication network being destroyed. When the line cuts, we hear the rapid high pitch beep typical of a phone line off the hook for a while. Since this sound is made by a land-line telecommunication central office, this sound is not produced when on a cell phone. When the line goes dead, it just silently stops. Fact errors: Seismic crack do not happen gradually. When a crack appears, it is sudden and has little consideration for man-made structures; it doesn't care to follow a road or a runway or a building. Continuity: When Adrian Helmsley is talking to the leaders in the other arks (talking about the people dying outside of the arks) and Carl Anhauser interrupts, the time on the clock clearly say's 6 minutes 10 seconds to the impact of the wave, but the next time the clock is shown it jumps to 15 minutes 52 seconds. CHAR: While Jackson is in the Antonov plane, he is seen to be scanning frequencies using the Bentley's radio. The channels he is searching through are in the range of 90-110 MHz, which is the FM range. While FM frequencies would not be heard at all when flying over open ocean, a common person might not realize this. FAIR: The term "mutating neutrinos" is incorrectly called a goof as some people believe that mutation is only a biological process. Mutation (from the Greek 'Mutatis') simply means 'Change'. "Mutating neutrinos" are changing/changed neutrinos. The dialogue in the film indicates that the neutrinos have changed to a different type of nuclear particle so the term 'mutating' is correct in context. Revealing mistakes: The Antonov 225 Myria in the film is painted in it's old livery (with the red stripe down it). In 2009, the Antonov 225 was repainted in a livery with a blue and yellow stripe. There is only one operational An225 currently, and if another one was produced, it would be painted in the new livery. Fact errors: In the many shots of the light twin, during turns the ailerons are shown fully deflected, but the aircraft's bank angle does not increase, instead remaining nearly constant. When ailerons are deflected, the bank angle will continue to increase, eventually rolling the aircraft inverted. Fact errors: The cargo hold of the An 225 is not pressurized. It is therefore not possible to sit or walk in the cargo bay when the aircraft is at cruising altitude. Revealing mistakes: When the Cessna is swallowed by the dust cloud it should not have been able to maintain itself in the air: its airspeed has dropped to zero and later became negative. It should have no lift. When the Cessna leaves the cloud, a moment later, this is emphasized in the visuals: the Cessna should be pushing air downwards in order to achieve lift, but it leaves the dust cloud completely undisturbed behind it. GEOG: The kids are covered in mosquito bites in Yellowstone. Yellowstone gets very cold at night and most of the waters are flowing creeks and streams, far from ideal mosquito breeding grounds. Revealing mistakes: While Jackson is returning to the airstrip in Yellowstone in the burning camper, the transmission selector is clearly in park. Continuity: When Jackson is in the Hydraulic chamber, trying to get the door closed. Helmsley gets a video feed, and reports to the captain "We have a visual, I think we found the problem" Prof. West then shouts "Show us the Hydraulic Chamber". On the video screen it shows Ark 006 (in the upper left corner), however they are on Ark 004. Then next time we see that screen, it says Ark 004. FAIR: The LA earthquake is described as being a "10.9 earthquake". In order to have a magnitude 10.9 earthquake you would have to have a fault that circles the Earth - no such fault exists. Continuity: When the Arabian sheik reads a contract on the laptop - obviously the contract enabling him to board one of the Arks - on the laptop screen we can clearly see the sum of 1,000,000,000 with nothing but Arabic characters all around (paragraph 13 of the contract). In the next scene however, when we see the reflection of those characters in the sheik's glasses, the numbers 13-10 is also clearly visible right above the sum 1,000,000,000 as the text scrolls down. There are no such numbers in the previous take. Continuity: An officer says that all communications from Earth have stopped, yet later the Indian scientist is able to call Dr. Helmsley to tell him about the tsunami. GEOG: In the scene where the cruise ship Genesis surges against the pier, the Golden Gate bridge is show to be in the approximate location of the San Francisco Bay Bridge. Revealing mistakes: When Jackson goes to get into the Bentley we see him remove the strap holding the car's front tire in place, but he never removes the back one which we still see in place when Gordon gets into the car. So how were they able to leave with it still secured? GEOG: The shortest Great Circle route from Las Vegas to China would go over Alaska and back south over western Russia, like most transpacific flights. Flying to Hawaii would take them about 2000 miles/3000 km out of their way, wasting time and fuel. Fact errors: In the breakfast scene, summer of 2012, Arnold Schwarzenegger is shown as the Calif. governor. This is not possible as he would be term limited out in 2010 and could not run again. A different governor would be elected in Nov. of 2010. Fact errors: In the scene showing the waters about to envelope the White House area, the aircraft carrier John F. Kennedy is shown to be several times larger than the White House. In fact, the Kennedy is 1052 feet long, surely not multiple times larger than the White House complex. PLOT: Just before the ash cloud is about to hit the terminal in Las Vegas, Sasha tells Yuri that he's found a plane: the Antonov. In the cargo hold, one of the twins tell Noah that their Bentley was canceled in order to buy the ark tickets.Later during the crash landing, Jackson is unable to start the Bentley with the key. However, Yuri starts the car with his voice saying its voice controlled. How is Yuri able to start the car using his voice when the Antonov was only just found by Sasha, and he had previously canceled his Bentley? |

[from trailer] President Thomas Wilson: Today we are one family. [from trailer] Jackson Curtis: No matter what happens, we'll all stay together. Noah Curtis: Whoa, that's a big plane. Yuri Karpov: It's Russian. Jackson Curtis: [as Kate's house is collapsing in an earthquake] Get in the fucking car! Carl Anheuser: [about Laura Wilson] Cute girl, huh? Adrian Helmsley: Sir? Carl Anheuser: The First Daughter. I saw you looking at her. Adrian Helmsley: I wasn't looking at her. Carl Anheuser: Better move fast, kid. The end is near. Kate Curtis: [on the "ark"] Where have you been all my life? Jackson Curtis: Gift shop. Lilly Curtis: I'm not scared. No more Pull-Ups. Jackson Curtis: Nice. President Thomas Wilson: [seconds before the White House is destroyed] I'm coming home, Dorothy. Yuri Karpov: [while flying over Hawaii] What is that? Sasha: The State of Hawaii. Yuri Karpov: Not good. That is not good. Sasha: [while flying the Antonov] Lift your big ass for Sasha! Adrian Helmsley: The moment we stop fighting for each other, that's the moment we lose our humanity. President Thomas Wilson: Six months ago, I was made aware of a situation so devastating that, at first, I refused to believe it. However, through the concerted efforts of our brightest scientist, we have confirmed its validity. The world, as we know it, will soon come to an end. Carl Anheuser: You're telling me that the North Pole is now some where in Wisconsin? Professor West: Actually, that's the South Pole now. Kate Curtis: So, now that you have your map, where are we going? [Jackson holds a one-finger signal before unfolding the map with the ships to discover that it is located in "China"] Jackson Curtis: We're going to need a bigger plane. [looks back at the map] Adrian Helmsley: Sir, you don't have the authority. Carl Anheuser: Who's got the authority? You? You've got the authority? You couldn't keep your goddamn mouth shut. You betrayed top-secret information last year. Could've had us all killed? Adrian Helmsley: What the hell are you talking about? Carl Anheuser: You told your father everything. Put this entire plan in jeopardy. Good thing for you the old man could keep his mouth shut better than you. Oh, come on. Don't look so shocked. We had to monitor everybody who knew. How do you think we kept it a secret for so long? Adrian Helmsley: So we just killed people who tried to talk? Carl Anheuser: Anybody who tried to talk was not just an enemy of the state, they're an enemy of humanity. Adrian Helmsley: The Director of the Louvre was an enemy of humanity? Carl Anheuser: After he called a press conference, he was! Jesus. What did you think? We're all just gonna get onboard, hold hands and sing "Kumbaya"? Sit down and buckle up. Lilly Curtis: [inside Charlie's camper] That guy's crazy. Right, daddy? Jackson Curtis: No. I don't think so. Lama Rinpoche: Do not believe in something simply because you have heard it, Nima. Nima: But great Lama, Tenzin is my brother. He works inside the tunnel, whee the ships are built. But where is in your wisdom, great Lama, if Tenzin is right... what if our world is indeed coming to an end? [Rinpoche responds by pouring tea into Tenzin's cup, causing it to overflow] Nima: It is full, great Rinpoche. [after a moment, Rinpoche stops] Lama Rinpoche: Like this cup, you are full of opinions and speculations. To see the light of wisdom... you first must empty your cup. [Tosses Nima the truck's keys] Be careful with the clutch... it tends to slip. Kate Curtis: [on the phone with Jackson] Hello? Jackson Curtis: [in the limo en route to Kate's house] Kate, stop what you're doing. Kate Curtis: Jackson? Jackson Curtis: Listen to me. I've rented a plane. Pack up the kids, I'm gonna be there in five minutes. Kate Curtis: What are you talking about? We're gonna do our regular Saturday. Noah has music at 2 and Lil has karate. Gordon Silberman: Not gonna expect him to remember. Jackson Curtis: Kate, California is going down! Pack up the kids now! Kate Curtis: They just got back. God, you sound like a cray person. The Governor just said we're fine. Jackson Curtis: The guy's an actor! He's reading a script! When they tell you not to panic... [makes a hard left] that's when you run! Kate Curtis: Look, will you call me back when you calm down? [hangs up phone] Lilly Curtis: Mommy, why is Daddy so crazy? [Gordon looks at Kate] Kate Curtis: Finish your pancakes, Al Capone. Charlie Frost: [as he witnesses the Caldera erupt] I have goosebumps, people. Yuri Karpov: [Repeated line] Good. That is good. Harry Helmsley: I barely see my boy, but at least we talk. Tony Delgatto: About what? Harry Helmsley: Life, and how short it is. Adrian Helmsley: The president has ordered us to clean out the White House. Harry Helmsley: About time somebody cleaned up that mess. Gordon Silberman: What he said about you and Sasha, is it true? Tamara: Sasha was worth 100 times a man like Yuri. I should have listend to you, Dr. Silberman. I actually like the way I looked before that monster talk me into it. Gordon Silberman: Did you know he asked for a discount? And he paid in installments. Tamara: Cheap bastard. Kate Curtis: [as they escape Los Angeles in the plane] I don't understand. How did you know this was to happen? Jackson Curtis: It's not just California. It's the whole goddamned world that gone to shit. I met this guy at Yellowstone, this crazy guy, but he's been right about that's happened so far. And he says that the government is building these ships, spaceships, I don't know what, but something. Gordon Silberman: What, ships? Jackson Curtis: Yeah, places where we can be safe. He knows where they are. He's got a map. Kate Curtis: Jackson... Kate Curtis: Kate, you gotta just trust me on this, okay? Gordon Silberman: Guys... look. [L.A. is sinking into the Pacific as they fly away] Jackson Curtis: We gotta get to the Santa Monica Airport! Gordon Silberman: Well, take the freeway! It'll be half the time! Jackson Curtis: [as the freeway collapses from the earthquake] Yeah, right! Laura Wilson: [On phone] Dad, where are you? President Thomas Wilson: You wouldn't have gotten on that plane if I told you. Laura Wilson: Daddy, what's happening? I thought you were coming on the plane. President Thomas Wilson: Do you know what strength it gives me to know that my daughter is going to survive? [Both are on the phone] Tony Delgatto: I- I'm sorry. Who is this? Yoko Delgatto: This is Yoko Delgatto. Do you wanna speak to my daddy? Tony Delgatto: [sighs] Yes, please. Yoko Delgatto: Who should I say is calling? Tony Delgatto: Tell him... it's his father. Yoko Delgatto: You're my grampa? Tony Delgatto: Yes, sweetheart. I am. [Looks at a photo of Yoko] [Outside the gates of the ark docks] Kate Curtis: You don't have to save us, but please, just take my kids! Tenzin: Why should I do that? Jackson Curtis: The same reason you let in your family. Professor West: The Mayans saw this coming thousands of years ago. Adrian Helmsley: I thought we had more time. Charlie Frost: [Repeated line] Always remember, folks. You heard it first from Charlie. Sasha: Boss, I found us a plane. Yuri Karpov: Can you still fly that thing? Sasha: Sure, boss. But I need co-pilot. Lilly Curtis: Gordon's a pilot. Gordon Silberman: No, I'm not. I'm not. Jackson Curtis: Yes, he is. Great pilot. Let's go. Yuri Karpov: Good. Let's go! [both groups set out for the plane] Gordon Silberman: [just before going outdoors] Jackson, stop saying I'm a pilot. [They're about to drive out from the plane with the Bentley] Jackson Curtis: All right, let's go! Tamara: Wait! Where's Sasha? Gordon Silberman: Sasha's fine. We need to get out of here before he touches down. Tamara: No, no, no! We have to wait for him. Yuri Karpov: Go Jackson, go! Jackson Curtis: [Tries to start the car] It won't start! [Everyone panics] Yuri Karpov: Shut up, everbody! [Everyone stops screaming] Yuri Karpov: Engine... start! [Car starts] [as Satnam's family are about to leave India] Dr. Satnam Tsurutani: Don't worry, Ajit. We are going on a big ship. Adrian Helmsley: Satnam didn't get picked up. Professor West: What? Carl Anheuser: A lot of people didn't get picked up in this chaos. This is not a conspiracy, Helmsley. You're predictions haven't exactly panned out, have they, doctor? Carl Anheuser: Where the hell is President WIlson! Sally - President's Secretary: He's praying, sir, and under these circumstances that's not such a bad idea. Gordon Silberman: Honey, why don't we make a baby? Kate Curtis: We're not making a baby in the supermarket! Gordon Silberman: Honey, women pay me thousands of dollars to handle their boobs, and you get it for free. Jackson Curtis: Going to this place really special place that I know. Actually, it's a place where your Mom and I used to hang out a lot. Noah Curtis: I don't wanna know where you and Mom had sex. I'm not ready for that, Jackson. Jackson Curtis: Stop calling me that. It's creeping me out. What's wrong with "Dad"? Scotty: It's been upgraded to a 10.9 by the guys at Harvard. Adrian Helmsley: What does Caltech have to say? Professor West: The whole city of Pasadena was wiped out just a few minutes ago. Charlie Frost: This marks the last day of the United States of America. And, by tomorrow, all of mankind. And we will be visible from the Milky Way as a tiny little puff of smoke. I'm watching the earth crumble before my eyes. The giant ash cloud created by this super-volcano will first envelop Vegas and then St. Louis and then Chicago and then, at long last, Washington, D.C. will have its lights go out! [Yellowstone's caldera erupts. The giant ash cloud and fire is rushing behind them] Lilly Curtis: Daddy, it's following us. Jackson Curtis: Don't look at it! Get down on the ground. Get on the ground and hold on. Don't look back. Don't look back. Look at me. Do I look scared? Lilly Curtis: Uh-huh. Carl Anheuser: Kind of galling when you realize that nutbags with cardboard signs had it right the whole time. President Thomas Wilson: Did you ever meet my wife, Dorothy? Adrian Helmsley: No, sir. I didn't have that honor. President Thomas Wilson: She was in and out of it towards the end. The night before she passed on, she took my hand and she told me: "I think you should have a lottery. Everyone should have a chance to go." Maybe that's what we should have done. I'll be the last president of the United States of America. Do you know how that feels, son? Adrian Helmsley: No one could have saved the country, sir. And I think... I think people have a right to know. President Thomas Wilson: Don't worry. I'll take care of that. Ark Communications Officer: The capital's been hit by a 9.4. Ark Communications Officer: We've lost communication with the White House, sir. Adrian Helmsley: Where's it centered? Scotty: North Chesapeake Bay. Kate Curtis: Does anybody got any money? We could bribe them. Gordon Silberman: I do, I do. Jackson Curtis: You got a billion euros? Jackson Curtis: I was listening to the broadcast and I was wondering what is exactly that's gonna start in Hollywood? Charlie Frost: It's the apocalypse. End of days. The Judgment Day, the end of the world, my friend. Christians called it the rapture, but the Mayans knew about it, the Hopis, the I Ching, the Bible, kind of... Charlie Frost: You'd have to keep a thing like this underwraps. I mean, just think about it, okay? First, the stock market would go. Then the economy, boom! The dollar, boom! And then pandemonium in the streets. War, genocide, ba-ba-ba-ba, boom, boom, boom! Jackson Curtis: Bullshit. Nobody could keep that big a secret, Charlie. Somebody would blow the whistle. Charlie Frost: And every once in a while, some poor little sucker tries. Well, like these guys, boom, boom! [pulls down a screen of posted obituaries] Charlie Frost: Every one of these guys, dead, dead, dead. Jackson Curtis: [notices one of them] Whoa, whoa, whoa! That's Professor Meyers. Charlie Frost: He ran the Atlantis shuttle program. Why, did you know him? Jackson Curtis: Yeah, he helped me with research on my book. Charlie Frost: Well, that must have been before this "accident." Jackson Curtis: Meyers is dead? Charlie Frost: Oh, two months ago. He was one of my most avid listeners and he had it all figured out. Everything the government was doing, where and why... He even sent me a map. Jackson Curtis: A map for what Charlie? What's the map for? Charlie Frost: They're building spaceships, man. Jackson Curtis: Shit, man, I have to go because I gotta get back to Earth. Charlie Frost: Hey. Hey, guess what? They're selling seats. Jackson Curtis: Put me down for three. Charlie Frost: No, guys like you and me don't have a chance. You'd have to be Bill Gates or Rupert Murdoch or some Russian billionaire or something. Jackson Curtis: Hey, keep it down. My kids are sleeping. Charlie Frost: Get them out of Yellowstone. It's gonna get ugly up here. Jackson Curtis: Hey, have a safe trip, you little bastards. Oleg: Now you're laughing, Curtis, but we have tickets to go on on a big ship. We will live and you will die. Kate Curtis: Do you think people change? Jackson Curtis: By "people," do you mean me? Kate Curtis: Yes. Do you think you've changed since we separated? Jackson Curtis: I certainly eat a lot more cereal now. Adrian Helmsley: [standing in the Oval Office] I was wrong. President Thomas Wilson: Do you know how many times I've heard those words in this office? Zero. Sally - President's Secretary: Sorry, sir. She insisted. [leaves afterward] Laura Wilson: The Director of Louvre has just been killed. It's all over the news. [puts down newspaper and turns TV in room on with the news confirming what she had just explained] President Thomas Wilson: [after the TV is back off] Adrian, I don't think you met my daughter, have you? Adrian Helmsley: No, sir. Laura Wilson: We just talked. He said the organization I work for is a sham. How can he say something like that? Carl Anheuser: [to Adrian] Come. [Carl and Adrian leave the room] President Thomas Wilson: [after the door shuts after Adrian and leave] Did I ever tell you that you are just like your mother when you get upset? Laura Wilson: Daddy, a man was just killed. President Thomas Wilson: Please, sit down. Only twelve people know what I am about to tell you. Laura Wilson: Daddy, what's going on? President Thomas Wilson: An international endeavour is under way, and 46 nations are currently invested in this thing. Jackson Curtis: [looks at his watch after being awaken by the morning news] I'm a dead man. I'm a dead man. Laura Wilson: No toothbrush. Only books. Adrian Helmsley: You know, when I was a kid, my dad was on the road a lot. He would give me a box full books, call me every night and quiz me. I'd get an ice cream cone for every book I read, so I was a fat kid. Laura Wilson: I find that very hard to believe. Adrian Helmsley: No, it's true. My high school career was 2,000 books and zero girlfriends. Laura Wilson: I didn't even kiss a boy till I was in college. They were all to scared of my dad. President Thomas Wilson: [Addressing the nation] My fellow Americans. This will be the last time I address you. As you know, catastrophe has struck our nation... has struck the world. I wish I could tell you we can prevent the coming destruction. We cannot. Today, none of us are strangers. Today, we are one family, stepping into the darkness together. We are a nation of many religion, but I believe these words reflect the spirit of all our faiths. The Lord is my Shepard... [cuts off] [Ark Computer: Impact warning. Thirty degrees west. Forty-five degrees east. Target elevation, 29,035 feet] Carl Anheuser: 29,000 feet? What the hell is at 29,000 feet? Captain Michaels: We're headed straight for the north face of Mount Everest, Mr. Anheuser. And if we can't start our engines, we will not survive the impact. Captain Michaels: [over intercom] Ladies and gentleman, this is Captain Michaels speaking. In a few minutes I will give orders to unseal the decks. At 2345 last night, our sister arks, Numbers 6 and 7, have joined our course. For the first time on our journey, we'll have clear skies and moderate-to-good air quality. As you know, our passenger count is way over capacity. So please be careful when you step out and of course, enjoy the fresh air. Professor West: The equalization of the oceanic seabeds has not turned out to be as extreme as we expected. The waters are receding much faster than we thought, thank God. And this is hard to believe, the Himalayas are no longer the roof of the world. It's now the Drakensberg mountains of KwaZulu-Natal. Adrian Helmsley: The entire African continent has risen. Professor West: Several thousand feet, and likely never even flooded. Captain Michaels: That's why they call it the Cape of Good Hope. We've already set course for it. Carl Anheuser: What we need to do is focus on this timeline. That's what we need to do. Adrian Helmsley: When do we let the country know? Carl Anheuser: What do you mean? Adrian Helmsley: The people, sir. They need to know. Carl Anheuser: Well, of course they do. Listen, your job is to figure out when this is all going to fall apart. My job is to figure out how to retain some semblance of government after it falls apart. Until then, we don't have time for anything except for doing those jobs. Okay? Charlie Frost: [on radio] Folks, did you hear that? The authorities in L.A. say there's nothing to worry about. I'd love to see their dumb faces when Malibu and Beverly Hills get sucked into the gurgling maw of the Pacific. Where are they going to plug in their electric cars then? Ha, ha, ha. Jackson Curtis: [to pilot] Here. Take this. This is a very expensive watch. My editor gave it to me when he thought I was gonna be somebody. Adrian Helmsley: Who are you bringing? Carl Anheuser: Nobody. Who, my ex-wife? Last thing she said to me, she never wanted to see me again. So be it. Laura Wilson: How were all these people chosen? Carl Anheuser: The same way your art was: By experts from all over the world. We had geneticists determine the perfect gene pool we need to repopulate. Adrian Helmsley: These people were chosen by geneticists? Laura Wilson: Looks to me like their checkbooks got them onboard. Carl Anheuser: That's right, Dr. Wilson. Without billions of dollars from the private sector, this entire operation would've been impossible. Adrian Helmsley: We sold tickets. And what about all these workers? They all get passes? Carl Anheuser: What, life isn't fair? Is that it? You want to donate your passes to a couple Chinese workers, you be my guest. |
