Brian agrees but only if he is given permission to choose his partner. Brian heads home to Barstow, California where he recruits an old friend Roman Pearce to help him. Pearce agrees but only for the same deal Brian was offered. With the help of Monica, Brian and Rome work together to take down Verone.

Goofs

Revealing mistakes: A policeman is seen "writing" in a pad, however it's clear that he's merely moving a closed pen across a pad already filled with words.
Continuity: When Brian and Monica are seen talking at the party in the club, Monica has an earring in her ear which subsequently disappears.
Continuity: When Roman and Brian are fighting in the sand, the smudge on Roman's face disappears and reappears several times.
Continuity: In the car chase towards the end of the film, Brian is wearing/not wearing his seatbelt between shots.
Continuity: When Roman and Brian are talking to the police after the initial chase and Roman gets in a fight with Agent Markham, his shirt is alternately buttoned/unbuttoned between shots.
Crew: When Brian wins the race, right before the police arrests him, he powerslides toward the crowd. The camera's shadow is visible on his car door.
Continuity: After Brian breaks through the gate when he and Roman enter the boat lot, there is no dent in the front end of his car. It is perfectly fine.
Continuity: When the cops chase Brian after the first race, Agent Markham gets out of a squad car and shoots an electrical mechanism to disable Brian's car. Brian looses control and just knocks over a parking meter. When he hits it, barely any damage is done. In the next shot when the camera pans over his car, you can see that the hood is buckled, and the whole front end is basically destroyed (i.e the missing headlight, air dam and grille area). This damage to the car was done during an outtake, when Paul Walker crashed by accident.
Continuity: When Rome and Brian are going to the impound lot, Brian breaks the gate to the entrance. You can see the front of his car receiving damage, but when they stop and get out of their cars, Brian's car has no damage at all.
Continuity: When Brian and Rome are driving through the impound lot, they both drive through dips in the ground which have muddy water in them. When you see their cars later, there is no mud on them.
CHAR: When the two henchmen are arguing with Brian and Roman on the house boat, Brian ejects the unfired cartridge from the pistol, without first removing the clip, and hands it back to the henchman. Assuming that your average movie bad guy carries a firearm with a full clip, Brian has just given him a loaded weapon with a fresh round in the chamber.
Continuity: The GTR badge on the front intake of the Skyline (between the headlights) dissappears and reappears.
Continuity: When the driver in the orange muscle car is coming to the turn around the barrels in the tag team race, his sunglasses are visible before the turn, disappear during the turn, and reappear after the turn
Continuity: After the scene at the lockup, where Brian says, "Yo, let's break", and the cars begin to leave, we see the Spyder leave, and the driver is wearing orange. Yet when the cars are pulled over by the cops, and Tej and Suki climb out, Suki (driving the Spyder) is wearing black and Tej (Evo) is wearing orange.
Continuity: Whilst driving the Mitsubishi Evo there is a shot of Brian changing gear and dipping the clutch pedal. The shot used is of the pedals (with GTR logo) from the Nissan Skyline shown earlier and not of the Evo.
Continuity: In the first race between the Skyline, Supra, S2000 and the RX-7 the Supra's ground effects change from green to red and then back again multiple times.
Continuity: At the end of the first race, Brian jumps the raised bridge and smashes all the neons under his car, but moments later he slides up to the camera with all the neons working.
Revealing mistakes: In the first race when Suki jumps the draw bridge, there is no-one in the vehicle.
Continuity: In the first race, when the four racers turn a corner, Suki is in third position in one shot and she is last in the shot after it.
GEOG: There is are no speedways in Barstow, California. The nearest speedway is in Victorville, CA and it's 45 miles away from Barstow.
Continuity: During the struggle with Enrique and Brian right after the money is dropped off, bullets are shot through the windshield. When Rome and Brian go out to see Verone's yacht taking off, behind both of them is the Camaro with the windshield in perfect shape.
Miscellaneous: When Verone is heating the metal bucket, he uses a self-igniting "Bernzomatic" blowtorch. Verone ignites and puts out the flame without turning the fuel release knob.
Fact errors: Rome lived in a trailer when he wore a tracking device. House arrest means that the offender must live in a static home (to prevent the offender from driving out of state).
Continuity: When Brian does the Stare-and-Drive as soon as he stops he is a couple of yards away from the white line on the floor. But as soon as we go back to this we find that the Evo has moved forward to the line.
Continuity: Throughout the movie, the same Evo VII is seen with and without the Mitsubishi triple diamond emblem on the front grill, most noticeable on the highway scenes
Continuity: After they return to the garage from delivering the package to Verone (cigar), they are shown pulling up by the front door. Notice how the road is shaded from the sunlight in front of the garage. Then as they are walking back to the garage itself, the sunlight comes from another direction, illuminating the road and garage front. Also the yellow f-150 Lightning parked there has the front wheels straight, whereas seconds before they were turned.
Revealing mistakes: Obvious stunt double in he the orange muscle car as it turns around the barrels.
CHAR: Whenever one of the characters hits their NOS buttons, there's always a sudden look of surprise on their face as if they didn't expect their car to go faster...
Miscellaneous: When the blue car is trying to catch up with the boat, it looks like the car is going about 55 mph. But the speedometer shows the car going over a 100 mph. Yet when the car lands and crashes onto the boat, it looks like the car impacted the boat about 25 mph.
Miscellaneous: When Brian is trying to pull out the electric claw that is lodged in the passenger door, he has his foot on the gas pedal. Brian's foot is barely pushing the pedal and that is also why his car is slowing down.
Continuity: When Brian is playing chicken with the blue car in the tag team race, some shots show the cars far apart and closer to each other.
SYNC: Whenever you hear Roman's Eclipse, the exhaust note is incorrect. Subaru's use a "flat" engine that produces an unmistakable "burble." The sound mixers used the exhaust note of the Subaru WRX for the Eclipse's exhaust note.
Crew: In the opening credits, as the camera moves over the crowd. You are able to see the shadow of the camera running along the bottom of the screen.
Continuity: In the first race of the film, when the driver of the Supra uses Nos to get past Brian, he presses the right button. Later when he uses Nos to jump the bridge he presses the same button again.
Continuity: The gear shift knob of Brian's Mitsubishi Evo repeatedly changes between two clearly different after-market items.
Continuity: in the trailer park scene, there is a Silver Dodge Durango used. however 2 different model years/eras are used in different shots. when the truck is parked in the first few shots, there is no "Durango" badging on the front door, making that Durango a 2001-2003 model. however when the character puts a rock on the pedal the dash is from a 1998-2000 model, same with when it races down the road.
Continuity: in the freeway scene where the police chase Brian and the other character, the shots of the cops inside their cruisers, the vehicles used are Ford Crown Victorias. in the outside shots, the cars are clearly Chevy Caprices.
Crew: When Brian and Roman are racing to find the Ferrari at the beginning of the movie. A red Mustang tries to follow them through the semi trailers. As the Mustang clears the rear of the trailers, the shot switches back to show the trailer wheels. As it does, it clearly shows that the vehicle filming the shot is towing a trailer. The Mustang doesn't even have a trailer hitch.
Fact errors: When Tej, Jimmy, Suki, and another girl are playing poker, Tej puts his hand close to his face, then far away and you can see that he's holding the 8, jack, queen, king, and ace of spades. Jimmy does a short rap and picks up the pot. Tej then tells him that he has a royal flush (the highest hand in poker) and takes the money. A royal flush is the 10, jack, queen, king, and ace, suited.
Continuity: When Roberto breaks the wall in the trailer to access the money, the location of the first hit changes between shots.
Continuity: When Carter and Monica are on the yacht, Carter instructs one of his henchmen to take her down inside the boat. After Roman and Brian crash into the yacht and Carter is shot, we see Monica pick up Carter's gun. The henchmen is nowhere to be found and nothing is shown as to what happened to him.
Continuity: In the first race when Tej calls Brian to race. Brian runs out to his Skyline opens the door and enters the car and as he closes the door the blue neon light underneath the car turns on. But when he turns the car on we can see the blue neon light turns on again.
PLOT: In the 'turbo-charged prelude', we see the now-rogue Brian O'Connor on national news, including reported sightings of him. It seems odd that a crime lord of Verone's standing wouldn't have watched the news for the past few months, and simply recognize O'Connor when he sees him.
DATE: In the final scene with the blue car and boat. The car is shown to be traveling at 120 miles per hour, but loosing ground to the boat. Boats like this are only capable of about 42 miles an hours. If the scene were accurate, the car would be shooting past the boat by about 80 miles an hour and would have be well ahead when it made the jump.

Quotes

Brian O'Connor: You still fight like shit, bro.
Brian O'Connor: How do ya like them apples?
[about the Evo ]
Brian O'Connor: All right, let's see what this thing can do.
Brian O'Connor: You ready for this?
Roman: Come on, man. Guns, murderers and crooked cops? I was made for
this, bro.
Suki: Loser walks home.
Monica: You might wanna keep your eyes on the road, playboy.
Tej: Damn, Suki, uh... When you gonna pop my clutch, huh?
Suki: As soon as you get the right set of tools.
Tej: Yeah, a'ight.
Roman: He did the stare and drive on you, didn't he? He got that from
me.
[about Brian's record ]
Monica: He's clean, dirty, but clean.
Roman: You're not gonna do what I think you're gonna do.
Brian O'Connor: Yeah, I think so.
Roman: Only my homeboys call me Rome, pig.
Tej: Whoa, fellas, fellas. I know my tags are outta date, but damn.
Brian O'Connor: So, Dunn, looks like we're gonna be partners, bro.
Could you tell me right quick what would be a better motor for my
Skyline, a Gallo 12 or a Gallo 24?
Agent Dunn: Um...
[clears throat]
Agent Dunn: 24?
Brian O'Connor: I didn't know pizza places made motors.
Enrique: You know, I like you. But I still gotta kill you. It's my
job.
[after Roman Pearce smashed the car window]
Brian O'Connor: Now put your blouse back on.
Roman Pearce: Hater.
Brian O'Connor: Home stretch, baby.
[Brian turns his car around and drives backwards down the highway]
Roman: CRAZY-ASS WHITE BOY!
Brian O'Connor: Nice shirt, Bilkins.
Agent Bilkins: It's my day off.
Tej: Do I even wanna know where the Skyline is, Dawg? Or where you've
been for the past couple'a days? Or where the hell you got these
rides from?
Jimmy: Evo? Where'd you get an Evo from?
Brian O'Connor: Hey, Jimmy! We got any half-empty bottles of nitrous
laying around?
Jimmy: Sure, but I already loaded you with spray.
Brian O'Connor: I'm thinking we may need it for something else.
'Cause our cars may get a little crowded.
Roman: Damn! Where'd ya'll confiscate these rims from, man?
[to Roberto]
Roman: Enjoyin' the ride? Man, it's a fast car, huh? Man, it's a
classic. Old school. American muscle. Man, this car can do all
kinda things, man. Wanna see?
Korpi: American muscle.
Roman: [to Enrique and Roberto] Verone pay ya'll to keep a straight
face like that? 'Cause If I was makin' money, shit, I'd get that
mole removed off my damn nose.
Roman: [to Enrique and Roberto] How much he pay ya'll anyway? Every
time I see ya'll, man, ya'll got the silk shirts on, jewelry, you
know, lookin' real Miami. You know? I caught you walkin' up in the
club, you got the hamburger meat all hangin' out, you know?
Brian O'Connor: They got deep pockets?
Tej: Real deep.
Brian O'Connor: What's up, Suki?
Suki: What's up, Bullet?
Brian O'Connor: What do you say we kick it a nickel?
Orange Julius: 'Perate, 'perate, 'perate. [wait, wait, wait] No one
said nothing about raising the stakes!
Brian O'Connor: If that's the case, why don't you ask these nice
people here to back off the line so you can go home?
Roman Pearce: Don't even think about takin' the convertible. It might
loosen your mousse.
Brian O'Connor: No, that's cool. That's too much chrome for me
anyways.
Tej: All right. You each got a barrel to go around down at the end of
the road here. Second wave gotta sit tight till your partner
crosses this line right here. First team to go down and back twice
wins the race... at which point, the losers WILL hand over them
keys. Otherwise, you'll be eating breakfast through straws from now
on.
[when Brian crosses the finish line first]
Roman Pearce: Got two new cars! That's all my man!
Korpi: Damm!
Roman Pearce: Y'all ain't ready, homeboy! Get to walking, Fabio.
[as they were leaving]
Roman Pearce: Use them bus tokens, partner!
[first lines]
Tej: Yo, Jimmy, man, give me the status. Tell me we good.
[last lines]
Brian O'Connor: Pockets ain't empty, cuz.
Roman Pearce: And we ain't hungry no more either, brah.
Suki: Whoa, smack that ass!
Roman: Why must I chase the cat?
Carter Verone: [to his potential wheelmen] Thank you for coming on
such short notice. My red Ferrari was confiscated yesterday, and it
sits in an impound lot in Little Haiti. It's about 20 miles from
here. The car isn't important. What is important is the package I
left in the glove box. The first team back here with the package
will have an opportunity to work for me.
Darden: Are you saying we gotta audition?
Carter Verone: Nobody's got a gun to your head. That's it.
[Carter reveals the package was a cigar]
Roman: We did all that for a damn cigar?
Carter Verone: No. You did that for a job.
[Carter is being arrested]
Roman: Bye, Carter. Don't drop the soap!
Brian O'Connor: You realize that when he gets out, he's gonna kill
your ass.
Roman: Yeah, he's not getting out.
[Brian laughs]
Roman: [nervously] He's not getting out, right?
[During the opening race, Suki is trying to pass a rival]
Suki: Move, bitch!
Brian O'Connor: [after Brian and Rome escape and Tej and Suki get
cited by the police] Thanks a lot, Tej. You're the clutch. I owe
you one big time.
Tej: [staring angrily at the officer] Yeah, Brian, you really do owe
me, man. You really do. [Suki elbows Tej] Us. Suki says you owe
*us*, aight?
Roman Pearce: The old man's gonna blow our cover before we even get
started.
Agent Markham: [holds gun at Brian and Rome] Stop right there! Hands
where I can see them!
Brian O'Connor: What's going on here?
Agent Markham: Hold this. [tosses Agent Dunn his pistol] You think
you can shoot at me? I'm a goddamn federal agent!
Agent Markham: [Roman grabs his food] Hey, that's mine!
Roman Pearce: So?
Roman: What this job you have for us anyway?
Carter Verone: Come with me. The house has ears in it.
[Carter tosses his cigar out]
Carter Verone: I have something I want you to carry from North Beach
to the Keys.
Brian O'Connor: What is it?
Carter Verone: Just put in the car what I tell you to, drive it to me
and don't let anybody stop you. Understand?
Brian O'Connor: Yeah. Any chance of cop trouble?
Carter Verone: No. I'm buying you a window of time, but it's not
gonna be open very long. You make it, and I'll personally hand you
a hundred G's at the finish line.
Roman: [getting greedy] Make it a hundred G's a piece, papi. Look,
man, obviously, your pockets ain't nervous.
Carter Verone: [Roman reaches for Carter's left pocket when he grabs
his hand] Hey, hey, hey! Don't ever touch me.
Roman: Ours are empty. Like I said, we hungry.
Carter Verone: Hey, you! Your pockets aren't empty.
Roman: [under his breath] Damn.
Carter Verone: I'll take my cutter back.
Brian O'Connor: Stupid ass.
Roman: [hands the cigar cutter back to Carter] Hey, man, I figured
you had, like 12 or 13...
Carter Verone: [cuts Roman off] You not too bright, are you? Just get
out of here. Get out of here.
Roman: Man, it's a hoasis in here, breh
Brian O'Connor: Yeah, lots of potential
[Brian, Roman, Carter, Monica, Roberto, and Enrique walk into a
special room in the back of Pearl, a nightclub; Brian and Roman
sees a blowtorch, a cloth, and a bucket]
Roman Pearce: What's all that?
Carter Verone: We're gonna have a little fun.
[Carter pops open a champagne, then pours Monica a glass]
Monica: Thank you.
Detective Whitworth: Hey, Carter.
Carter Verone: Meet, uh, Detective Whitworth.
[the call girl who was with Det. Whitworth walks away]
Carter Verone: One of Miami's finest. Thank you, sweetheart. Are you
enjoying yourself, Detective?
Detective Whitworth: Yeah, I was. I mean, you know me.
Carter Verone: [turning cross] Yeah, I do know you. You been on my
payroll a long time.
Detective Whitworth: Verone, that ain't right.
Carter Verone: Shut up. I got one last job for you, Detective. You
hear me?
Detective Whitworth: Look, we've been through all this.
Carter Verone: Yeah?
Detective Whitworth: Yeah. I said I can't do it.
Carter Verone: Hmm. That's the wrong answer. The table.
[Roberto and Enrique grabs Det. Whitworth and ties him to the table]
Roman: Kiss my ass, Putos!
Roman: Fuentes in with Verone, Markham trying to blow our cover and
we got two wired cars that are better than that ankle braclet of
mine. Ima tell you, bro. You let your man, Markham do that shit
again in front of Verone, that gonna be our ass.
Brian O'Connor: I know man its getting thick real quick. We need some
way out through some kind of exit strategy.
Roman: Exit strategy, huh?
Brian O'Connor: Yeah.
Roman: [Roman takes a bite out of his sandwich] I like the way that
sounds. Wachu got in mind?
Brian O'Connor: I don't know man, but we need two more cars.
Roman Pearce: What you checkin' her out for?
Brian O'Connor: I'm not checkin' her out.
Roman Pearce: Yes, you were.
Brian O'Connor: No, I wasn't.
Roman Pearce: I seen you checkin' her out man.
Brian O'Connor: Ok, I was. Now shut up.
Roman Pearce: You shut up. Don't tell me to shut up.
Monica: Both you girlies shut up.
[Brian tries to use the ejection seat, but it doesn't work]
Enrique: What is that?
[Brian repeatedly tries the ejection seat, but it still doesn't work]
Enrique: What is that?
Roman Pearce: [over radio] It's Barstow, baby! It's about to get
ugly!
