| Plot: | In St. Marks catholic boarding school for girls, the religious student Elizabeth is attacked by evil forces and disappears from the classroom and the impotent Father Drake is incapable of saving her. The school is closed and five years later it is reopened. Five troubled unwanted girls - Alex, Mara, the blind Cecilia, Leah and Connie - are left by their family in the institution, severely directed by the headmistress Miss Pearce with hands of iron. Father Drake is their teacher and the girls are forbidden to go to the mysterious third floor. When Alex has visions of the possessed Elizabeth, weird things happen in the spot and the girls have to fight against a legion of two thousand demons. |

Crew: When Alex first enters the school, you can see the framing of what is obviously a fake movie set wall reflected in the glass of the trophy case behind her. Continuity: One of the first establishing shots shows the school with white boards covering all of the windows, yet the following scene in the classroom shows sunlight coming through the windows. |

Ordinary run of the mill or second-coming apocalypse? Connie: It's pretty. Father Drake: Well, the placing of ideas in separate clauses, would have "I fear" - "vereor", alone, and then in another sentence there would be the thing that was to be feared, or desired - "ut hoc fiat" - "o that this might happen." "vereor ut hoc fiat" - Which you might think is "I fear that this might happen" - but actually means "I fear that this might not happen." - You see, paratactically it expresses a desire for something to happen, but syntactically it becomes the worry that it won't happen. Understand? Mara: She broke my healing hand! Leah: Be careful with hope. It's a trick the devil will play on you. Cecilia: You mean to tell you don't believe in the devil? Mara: Oh I believe in the devil, his name is Man and he is pissing me of. |
