Goofs

FAIR: The human Avatars in the movie all have 5 fingers and toes while the natives only have 4. The reason for this is to show subtle differences in the Avatars due to the mixing of human and native DNA.
FAIR: Though it would seem Norm is standing next to his Avatar near the end of the movie (which would be physically impossible) we see multiple avatars with trousers and guns in the background. These are likely the other avatars we saw at the beginning of the movie.
FAIR: In the scene where Jake is looking at the photographs of the Na'vi on the refrigerator, the photographs themselves are 3D. This is not a mistake, however - in Avatar's world, 3D photographs exist in 2154.
Continuity: Jake Sully pulls a blanket over Grace Augustine in the scene where they are flying north in the mobile link-up trailer after Grace is shot and leaves it folded at the top. The next shots alternate showing the blanket flat with no folds and the blanket with folds.
Continuity: During the shot where Quaritch says to Jake "That's called taking an initiative son", Jake's hands are rested up on the hologram table. In the next shot where Quaritch says "I wish I had ten more like you", Jake's hands are down at his sides.
CHAR: During one of Jake's video logs, Grace can be seen working on an experiment in the background. In the process, she draws up some liquid in an Eppendorf pipette. However, in the process of transferring the liquid to its intended vessel, she inverts the pipette, which would severely damage it.
Revealing mistakes: The first part of the credits are shown over panoramic views of Pandora. Most of these shots are recycled from the movie, and reversed left to right to make it a bit less obvious. One in particular was taken from Jake's ikran first flight sequence, but with Jake and the ikran removed. But you can still the ikran's shadow pass over the rocks.
Continuity: In the scene where Parker is shown playing golf on the indoor golf course in RDA, the first time he hits the ball, there are two other balls lying on the course side by side. In the next shot, two are distant from each other and in the shot after that, they are in their original position.
Continuity: Jake is reviewing the structure of the home tree with Quaritch and Selfridge around the rotating 3-D map. When Jake makes a comment about the Na'vi studying him, his watch reads 2:19. Selfridge makes a comment about how the tree is sitting right over the richest Unobtanium deposit. When the camera cuts back to Jake his watch now displays 2:57.
Continuity: In the colonel's robot there is a rear-view mirror. When we see the robot from the outside, it is very close to his head. But when we see shots from inside the robot, there is plenty of room around his head and we don't see the mirror.
Continuity: When Quaritch is scolding Jake for making out with a Na'vi, Jake moves his head to the right. In the immediate next angle, his head is straight.
Continuity: In the scene where Jake wakes up from his link and Grace asks him, "Is the avatar safe?" and he replies, "Yeah Doc, and you are not gonna believe where I am," her hand is on top of his shoulder. But as the camera angle changes back and forth her hand switches to the side of his upper arm and back to the shoulder without time to have made the move.
Continuity: When Jake is recording his first video log entry, he moves the recording camera around a little to get a better view of his face, and is looking directly at a screen to his right to see if he's centered his face correctly. In the very next shot, he is staring straight forward at the camera.
Revealing mistakes: In the scene where the Na'vi are attempting to move Grace from her human body to her Avatar body, after she has died and one of the Na'vi moves to check for life in her Avatar, you can see her eyes twitch even though she is supposed to be dead.
Revealing mistakes: When Jake's dead brother, Tom, is uncovered, he's played by Sam Worthington. In the next shot of Tom being covered again it's clearly someone else.
Continuity: When connecting with the Mountain Banshee for the first time, Jake's hair switches from being over his left shoulder to being over his right between shots. (His hands are on the Banshee the whole time so he had no chance to change it.)
Continuity: When Seze first comes out of the tree, if the viewer watches carefully, he/she can see Neytiri's ponytail being flung over her left shoulder, indicating that it would be hanging down her front, but in the next shot it was hanging down her back.
Revealing mistakes: In the scene where Jake lands on Pandora for the first time, when all other personnel have gotten off the transport ship it is revealed that Jake is paraplegic. When he gets up from his seat into his wheelchair, after lifting his legs from the seat with his arms and putting them in place on the wheelchair, you can see him moving his left leg a bit backwards (without touching it).
Continuity: When the colonel is in the robot asking Jake to report to him, in one scene a red disconnect flag is hanging off the robot's leg, but when the colonel starts to walk, the flag is gone.
Continuity: When Jake first tries to convince the Na'vi not to fight, and Tsu'tey shoves him, Tsu'tey's eyes are colorless and gray. In the scenes before and after this, however, his eyes are clearly yellow.
Revealing mistakes: When Jake is wheeling himself off the ship for the first time toward the beginning of the movie, there are puddles of water on the ground, possibly from rain. When the first human-controlled robot appears walking toward the camera, he casts a shadow on the ground, but does not show a reflection from the puddles like everyone else does.
Continuity: Intentional continuity goof: Jake Walks up to the tree of souls to pray to Eywa with his ponytail down his back normally. Jake kneels before the tree, with the ponytail in the same spot. Jake reaches down for something, the shot changes, and the pony tail appears in his hand. This was likely done intentionally by the animators to match Sam Worthington's performance as he was not holding it as he approached the tree, and it would look unnatural for him to do so, and would not match the motion capture data.
Fact errors: The Pandoran atmosphere, a mixture of nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide (>18%), xenon (>5.5%), methane, and hydrogen sulfide (>1%), would not support combustion - so fire torches would not be possible.
Continuity: When Jake goes after Neytiri to thank her the first time they meet, she beats him with her bow with attached arrows. For a few seconds, in the next dialog, the arrows disappear.
Continuity: When Parker Selfridge wants to explain the situation (the 'Blue Monkeys') to Jake and asks someone to operate the hologram showing the layout of the landscape he says stop at sector '12' (Hometree), but when the scene cuts to a closeup of Jake the yellow hologram readout clearly reads 'Sector 128'.

Quotes

Selfridge: This is why we're here: because this little gray rock
sells for twenty million a kilo.
Jake Sully: [to Tsu'tey] With your permission, I will speak now. You
would honor me by translating. [to the assembled Na'vi] The Sky
People have sent us a message... that they can take whatever they
want. That no one can stop them. Well, we will send them a message.
You ride out as fast as the wind can carry you. You tell the other
clans to come. Tell them Toruk Makto calls to them! You fly now,
with me! My brothers! Sisters! And we will show the Sky People...
that they can not take whatever they want! And that this... this is
our land!
Neytiri: You should not be here.
Trudy Chacon: [to the others on the airship while flying by the
Hallelujah Mountains] You should see your faces!
Jake Sully: Everything is backwards now, like out there is the true
world, and in here is the dream.
Col. Quaritch: You haven't got lost in the woods, have you? You still
remember what team you're playing for?
Col. Quaritch: A recon gyrene in an Avatar body... that's a potent
mix! Gives me the goosebumps!
[to Grace Augustine]
Col. Quaritch: Shut your pie hole!
Jake Sully: What are you doing, Jake?
Col. Quaritch: It seems diplomacy has failed.
Col. Quaritch: This low gravity'll make you soft. When you get
soft... Pandora'll shit you out dead with zero warning.
Neytiri: Eywa has heard you... Eywa has heard you!
Col. Quaritch: Mask on!
Jake Sully: [Making a video log] Do I have to do this now?
Dr. Grace Augustine: Yes now, while it's still fresh.
Jake Sully: Okay uh... location: shack.
Jake Sully: Neytiri calls me skxawng. It means "moron."
Neytiri: To become "taronyu", hunter, you must choose your own Ikran
and he must also choose you.
Jake Sully: When?
Neytiri: When you are ready.
Neytiri: You are Omaticaya now. You may make your bow from the wood
of Hometree. And you may choose a woman. We have many fine women.
Ninat is the best singer.
Jake Sully: I don't want Ninat.
Neytiri: Peyral is a good hunter.
Jake Sully: Yes, she is a good hunter. But I've already chosen. But
this woman must also choose me.
Neytiri: [smiles] She already has.
[They kiss]
Selfridge: [In the tech room, Selfridge putts a golf ball into a mug
and laughs] You see that?
Worker: Yes sir!
Selfridge: No you didn't, you were looking at the monitor. I love
this putter, Ronnie! I love this putter!
Dr. Grace Augustine: Parker. You know, I used to think it was benign
neglect, but now I see that you are intentionally screwing me.
Selfridge: Grace, you know, I enjoy our little talks. [He putts the
ball again, it's about to go in the mug but Grace kicks the mug
away]
Dr. Grace Augustine: [Deadpan] Oops.
Col. Quaritch: That is one big damn tree!
Neytiri: Our great mother Eywa does not take sides, Jake; only
protects the balance of life.
Jake Sully: It was worth a shot.
Dr. Grace Augustine: Is the avatar safe?
Jake Sully: Yeah it's safe. You are not gonna believe where I am!
Jake Sully: I see you.
Neytiri: I see you.
Neytiri: I trusted you!
Jake Sully: Up ahead was Pandora. You grew up hearing about it, but I
never figured I'd be going there.
Jake Sully: One life ends, another begins.
Jake Sully: There's no such thing as an ex-marine. You may be out,
but you never lose the attitude.
Jake Sully: I told myself I can pass any test a man can pass.
Col. Quaritch: We have an indigenous population of humanoids called
the Na'vi.
Dr. Max Patel: Grace, this is Jake Sully.
Jake Sully: Madame.
Dr. Grace Augustine: Yeah, yeah, I know who you are and I don't need
you. I need your brother. You know, the PHD who trained for 3 years
for this mission.
Jake Sully: He's dead. I know it's a big inconvenience for everyone.
Dr. Grace Augustine: How much lab training have you had?
Jake Sully: I dissected a frog once.
Dr. Grace Augustine: So you just figured you'd come here, to the most
hostile environment known to men, with no training of any kind, and
see how it went? What was going through your head?
Jake Sully: Maybe I was sick of doctors telling me what I couldn't
do.
[after Jake enters his avatar body]
Dr. Max Patel: Jake! Listen to me! You're not used to your avatar
body. This is dangerous!
Jake Sully: [excited] This is great!
Jake Sully: You guys are packing some heavy gear.
Trudy Chacon: [to the driver of a vehicle that almost hit Jake Sully]
Watch it!
Trudy Chacon: Yeah, that's because we're not the only thing flying
around out there. Or the biggest. But I need you on a door gun, I'm
a man short.
Jake Sully: I thought you'd never ask.
Col. Quaritch: Look, Sully, I want you to learn this savages from the
inside, I want you to gain their trust. I need to know how to force
their cooperation or hammer them hard if they won't.
[Jake gets down from the ship with a gun. Wainfleet follows]
Dr. Grace Augustine: [to Wainfleet] Stay with the ship. One idiot
with a gun is enough.
[They find a Hammerhead Titanothere]
Dr. Grace Augustine: Don't shoot! Don't shoot. You'll piss him off.
Jake Sully: It's already pissed off.
Dr. Grace Augustine: Jake, that armor is too thick. Trust me. It's a
territorial threat display. Do not run or he'll charge.
Jake Sully: What do I do? Dance with it?
Dr. Grace Augustine: Just hold your ground.
[the Hammerhead Titanothere charges and Jake run towards him and
yells to scare him. It goes away]
Jake Sully: Ha, ha! Yeah, come on! Show what you've got! Oh yeah,
who's bad? That's right. Yeah, that's what I'm talking about bitch.
That's right, get your punk ass back to mommy. Yeah, you've got
nothing. You keep running. Why don't you bring some of your
friends, huh?
[Turns around and sees an angry Thanator standing in front of him]
Jake Sully: [to Grace] What about this one? Run? Don't run? What?
Dr. Grace Augustine: Run! Definitely run!
Jake Sully: Look, I know you probably don't undertstand this... but,
thank you.
Neytiri: [Ignores him and speaks in Na'vi]
Jake Sully: Thank you.
Neytiri: [Speaks in Na'vi]
Jake Sully: That was pretty impressive. I would have been screwed if
you hadn't come along.
[Neytiri stands up and leaves. Jake follows her]
Jake Sully: Hey, wait a second! Where are you going? Wait up! Just,
hey, slow down! I just wanted to say thanks for killing those
things...
[Neytiri hits him with her bow]
Jake Sully: AH!Damn!
Neytiri: Don't thank. You don't thank for this! This is sad. Very sad
only.
Jake Sully: Okay, okay. I'm sorry. Whatever I did, I'm sorry.
Neytiri: All this is your fault. They did not need to die.
Jake Sully: My fault? They attacked me! How am I the bad guy?
Neytiri: Your fault! Your fault.
Jake Sully: Easy. Easy...
Neytiri: You are like a baby. Making noise, don't know what to do.
Jake Sully: Fine. If you loved your little forest friends... why not
let them kill me? What's the thinking?
Neytiri: Why save you?
Jake Sully: Yeah, why save me?
Neytiri: You have a strong heart. No fear. But stupid! Ignorant like
a child!
[Neytiri walks away and Jake follows after her]
Jake Sully: Well, if I'm like a child, then maybe you should teach
me.
Neytiri: Sky People can not learn, you do not see.
Jake Sully: Then teach me how to see.
Neytiri: No one can teach you to see.
Neytiri: You should not be here.
Jake Sully: I need your help.
Neytiri: No! Go back!
Moat: It is decided. My daughter will teach you our ways. Learn well,
"Jakesully", and we will see if your insanity can be cured.
[Grace is showing pictures of the Na'vi to Jake so he remembers them]
Dr. Grace Augustine: Okay, let's run through them again.
Jake Sully: [Sees a picture] Mo'at. The Dragon lady. [Sees next
picture] Eytukan.
Dr. Grace Augustine: [Says the name correctly] Eytukan. He's the clan
leader. But she's the spiritual leader. Like a chaman.
Jake Sully: Got it. [Sees next picture] Tsu'tey
Dr. Grace Augustine: [Says the name correctly] Tsu'tey.
Jake Sully: Tsu'tey.
Dr. Grace Augustine: He'll be the next clan leader.
Jake Sully: [Sees next picture] Neytiri.
Dr. Grace Augustine: She'll be the next "Tsahik". They'll become a
mated pair.
Jake Sully: So who's this Eywa?
Norm Spellman: Who's Eywa? Only their deity! Their goddess, maker of
all living things. Everything they know! You'd know this if you've
had any training whatsoever.
Jake Sully: [Shows him Neytiri's picture] Who's got a date with the
chief's daughter?
Norm Spellman: Oh, come on!
Dr. Grace Augustine: I'm going to Selfridge.
Dr. Max Patel: No, Grace.
Dr. Grace Augustine: I'm going to kick his corporate butt. He has no
business sticking his nose in my department.
Col. Quaritch: You are not in Kansas anymore, you are on Pandora,
ladies and gentlemen, respect that fact every second of every day.
Jake Sully: I was a stone cold aerial hunter. Death from above.
Neytiri: Sky people can not learn, they do not see.
Moat: If you are one of us, help us!
Dr. Grace Augustine: They're pissing on us and not even giving us the
courtesy of calling it rain.
[last lines]
Jake Sully: Well, uh, I guess this is my last video log. Whatever
happens tonight, either way, I'm not going to be coming back to
this place. Well, I guess I better go. I don't wanna be late for my
own party. It's my birthday, after all. This is Jake Sully signing
off.
Trudy Chacon: [fires on Quaritch's Hellicopter] You're not the only
one with a gun, Bitch!
Trudy Chacon: Yeah, you know what that is. Down, all the way down.
Neytiri: It is Toruk, Last Shadow.
Jake Sully: Yeah, right. It's the last one you'll ever see.
Neytiri: My grandfather's grandfather was Toruk Makto, Rider of Last
Shadow.
Jake Sully: He rode this?
Neytiri: Toruk chose him, it has only happened five times since the
time of first songs.
Neytiri: Toruk Makto was mighty. He brought the clans together in a
time of great sorrow. All Navi people know this story.
Tsu'tey: Toruk Makto, I will fly with you.
Jake Sully: Are you out of your goddamn mind?
Col. Quaritch: You crossed the line. [Punches Jake in the face,
knocking him out]
Jake Sully: They're not going to give up their home. They're not
going to make a deal. Pff for what? A light beer and blue jeans?
There's nothing that we have that they want. Everything they sent
me out here to do is a waste of time. They're never going to leave
hometree.
Neytiri: You will never be one of the people.
Neytiri: All this is your fault.
Jake Sully: You have to leave or you're going to die.
Jake Sully: Look, they sent me here to learn your ways. So that one
day I could bring this message and that you would believe it.
Jake Sully: Look, at first it was just orders. And then, everything
changed. Okay, I fell in love. I fell in love with the, with the
forest, with the Omaticaya people, with you. With you.
Jake Sully: Trust me now.
Jake Sully: I see you, Brother... thank you. [kills prey] Your spirit
will now be with Eywa, but your body will remain for The People.
Dr. Grace Augustine: Don't play with that. You'll go blind.
Jake Sully: [as Jake pleads for Eywa's help in attacking the "Sky
People"] See the world we come from: there's no green there.
They've killed their mother, and they're going to do the same thing
here.
Jake Sully: [to his ikran on their first flight] Shut up and fly
straight!
Jake Sully: Give it up, Quaritch! It's all over.
Col. Quaritch: Nothing's over while I'm breathing.
Jake Sully: I kinda hoped you'd say that.
Col. Quaritch: It's my job to keep you alive. I will not succeed. Not
with all of you.
Neytiri, Jake Sully, Dr. Grace Augustine: I see you.
Dr. Grace Augustine: [Mortally wounded, realizing she's at the tree
of souls] I need to get some samples.
Col. Quaritch: You crossed the line!
Col. Quaritch: [Punches Jake] Wheel this meat outta here.
Col. Quaritch: [a short time later] You let me down me son!... So,
you find yourself some local tail, and you just completely forget
what team you're playin' for?
Col. Quaritch: Thanks Jake, I'm gettin all emotional, 'might just
give you a big wet kiss!
Dr. Grace Augustine: [after getting shot] This is gonna ruin my whole
day!
Moat: It is hard to fill a cup that is already full.
Jake Sully: My cup is empty. Trust me. Just ask Dr. Augustine. I'm no
scientist.
Moat: Then what are you?
Jake Sully: I was a marine. A warrior... of the uh... Jarhead Clan.
Jake Sully: I was a warrior who dreamed he could bring peace. Sooner
or later though, you always have to wake up.
Jake Sully: Outcast. Betrayer. Alien. I was in the place the eye does
not see. I needed their help. And they needed mine. But to ever
face them again, I was going to have to take it to a whole new
level.
Jake Sully: Where I had it figured, Tyeruko's the baddest cat in the
sky. Nothing attacks him. So why would he ever look up? That was
just a theory.
Neytiri: I'm with you now, Jake. We are mated for life.
Jake Sully: [to himself] What the hell are you doing, Jake?
Col. Quaritch: Hey Sully... how does it feel to betray your own race?
You think you're one of them? Time to wake up!
Tsu'tey: YOU! [pushes Jake, Neytiri exclaims] You mating with this
woman?
Dr. Grace Augustine: Oh, shit!
Jake Sully: The aliens went back to their dying home. Only a few were
chosen to stay.
Trudy Chacon: Screw this. I didn't sign up for this shit!
Dr. Grace Augustine: [Emerging from her avatar pod] Where's my
goddamn cigarette? What's wrong with this picture!
[first lines]
Jake Sully: When I was lying in the V.A. hospital with a big hole
blown through the middle of my life, I started having these dreams
of flying. I was free. But sooner or later, you always have to wake
up.
Trudy Chacon: I was hoping for some kind of tactical plan that didn't
involve martyrdom.
Selfridge: Isn't that the whole point of your little puppet show? You
walk like them, you talk like them. We build them a school, teach
them English, but after how many years the relations with the
indigenous are only getting worse.
Dr. Grace Augustine: Yeah, well that tends to happen when you use
machine guns on them.
Jake Sully: [Narrating] In cryo, you don't dream at all. It doesn't
*feel* like six years - more like a fifth of Tequila and an ass
kicking. Tommy was a scientist, not me. He was the one who wanted
to get shot light years out in space to find the answers.
Jake Sully: Are we there yet?
Cryo Vault Med Tech: Yeah, we're there sunshine... We're there.
[Scene changes to morgue]
Suit #2: It's about your brother...
Jake Sully: [Narrating] So a week before he was about to ship out...
a guy with a gun ends his journey... for the paper in his wallet.
Cryo Vault Med Tech: You've been in cryo for five years, nine months
and twenty-two days. You will be hungry, you will be weak. If you
feel nausea, please use the...
Jake Sully: [Narrating] Yeah, Tommy was the scientist. Me? I'm just
another dumb grunt going some place he's going to regret.
Jake Sully: Sooner or later, though, you always have to wake up.
Jake Sully: I became a Marine for the hardship. Told myself that I
can pass any test a man can pass. All I ever wanted was a single
thing worth fighting for.
Col. Quaritch: I take care of my own son. You get me what I need, I
make sure that when you rotate home you get your legs back, your
real legs.
Jake Sully: That sounds real good sir.
Jake Sully: You wanted to see me Colonel.
Col. Quaritch: This low gravity will make you soft. And when you get
soft, Pandora will eat you whole and shit you out. I read your file
Coporal. Venezuela, that was some mean bush. Nothing like that here
though. You got some heart kid, showing up here.
Jake Sully: Figured it was just another hell hole.
Col. Quaritch: Out there, beyond that fence, every living thing that
crawls, flies or squats in the mud wants to kill you and eat your
eyes for jujubes.
Jake Sully: You guys are packing some heavy gear.
Trudy Chacon: That's 'cos we're not the only thing flying out there.
Or the biggest.
Col. Quaritch: I want this mission high and tight. I want to be home
for dinner.
Jake Sully: All I ever wanted was a single thing worth fighting for.
Jake Sully: If Grace is there with you - look in her memories - she
can show you the world we come from. There's no green there. They
killed their Mother, and they're gonna do the same thing here.
Col. Quaritch: I can do it with minimal casualties to the indigenous.
We'll clear them out with gas first. It'll be humane. More or less.
Dr. Grace Augustine: Hey Marine!
Jake Sully: [Turns and sees Grace's Avatar] Grace?
Dr. Grace Augustine: Well who'd you expect, numbnuts?
Trudy Chacon: We're going up against gunships with bows and arrows.
Jake Sully: Well, I guess we better stop him.
Selfridge: Look you're supposed to be winning the hearts and minds of
the natives. Isn't that the whole point of your little puppet show?
If you walk like them, you talk like them they'll trust you. We
build them a school, teach them English. But after - how many years
- the relations with the indigenous are only getting worse.
Dr. Grace Augustine: Yeah, well that tends to happen when you use
machine guns on them.
Selfridge: Right. Come with me. You see this? This is why we're here.
Because this little gray rock sells for $20 million a kilo. This is
what pays for the whole party, and it's what pays for your science.
Those savages are threatening our whole operation. We're on the
brink of war and you're supposed to be finding me a diplomatic
solution. So use what you've got, and get me some results
Col. Quaritch: Shut yer pie hole!
Dr. Grace Augustine: Or what, Ranger Rick? Huh, you gonna shoot me?
Col. Quaritch: I could do that.
Jake Sully: She said all energy is only borrowed, and one day you
have to give it back.
Col. Quaritch: If there is a hell, you might want to go there for
some R&R after a tour on Pandora.
Col. Quaritch: As head of security, it's my job to keep you alive. I
will not succeed - not with all of you.
Jake Sully: This is how it's done. When people are sitting on shit
that you want, you make'em your enemy. Then you're justified in
taking it.
Jake Sully: Sometimes your whole life boils down to one insane move
Jake Sully: [to Grace when she interrupts his video log recording to
give some extra explanation] Excuse me, this is my video log here.
Jake Sully: When people are sitting on shit that you want you make
them your enemies, and then you can justify taking it away from
them!
Dr. Grace Augustine: [to Selfridge] Those trees were sacred to the
Omaticaya in a way you can't imagine.
Selfridge: You know what? You throw a stick in the air around here it
falls on some sacred fern, for Christ's sake!
Dr. Grace Augustine: I'm not talking about pagan voodoo here - I'm
talking about something REAL and measurable in the biology of the
forest.
Selfridge: Which is *what* exactly?
Dr. Grace Augustine: What we think we know - is that there's some
kind of electrochemical communication between the roots of the
trees. Like the synapses between neurons. Each tree has ten to the
fourth connections to the trees around it, and there are ten to the
twelfth trees on Pandora...
Selfridge: That's a lot, I'm guessing.
Dr. Grace Augustine: That's more connections than the human brain.
You get it? It's a network - a global network. And the Na'vi can
access it - they can upload and download data - memories - at sites
like the one you just destroyed.
Selfridge: [after a stunned pause] What the HELL have you people been
smoking out there? [beginning to laugh] They're just. Goddamn.
Trees.
Dr. Grace Augustine: You need to wake up, Parker. The wealth of this
world isn't in the ground - it's all around us. The Na'vi know
that, and they're fighting to defend it. If you want to share this
world with them, *you* need to understand *them*.
Col. Quaritch: I think we understand them just fine. Thanks to Jake
here. [Jake and Grace share a look of horror as Quaritch begins to
play Jake's video log]
Dr. Grace Augustine: Jake...
Jake Sully: [takes her hand, speaks hopefully] Grace...?
Dr. Grace Augustine: I'm with Her now, Jake. She is real... [dies]
Jake Sully: You have to leave, or you're gonna die!
Moat: Are you certain of this?
Jake Sully: Look, they sent me here, to learn your ways, so one day I
could bring this message, and that you would believe it.
Neytiri: What are you sayig, Jake? You knew this would happen?
Jake Sully: Yes. Look, at first, it was just orders, and then,
everything changed. Okay? I fell in love. I fell in love with the -
with the forest, with the Omaticaya people... with you... with
you...
Neytiri: [interupting him] I trusted you...
Jake Sully: [continuing what he was saying] - with you.
Neytiri: [getting upset] I trusted you!
Jake Sully: [trying to calm her] Trust me, now. Please.
Col. Quaritch: And that's how you scatter the roaches.
Tsu'tey: You see? It is a demon in a false body.
Dragon Gunship Navigator: We are gonna lose some paint in here.
Trudy Chacon: [the instrumentation is going haywire, flying through
clouds] Looks like we're VFR from here on.
Norm Spellman: What's VFR?
Trudy Chacon: It means you've gotta see where you're going.
Norm Spellman: But you can't see anything.
Trudy Chacon: [laughing] Yeah, ain't that a bitch.
Trudy Chacon: [Last line] Rogue One is hit. I'm going in. Sorry Jake.
Jake Sully: [while flying with his ikran] I may not be much of a
horse guy, but I was born to do this.
Jake Sully: Learning to ride an ikran - we call 'em banshees - is a
test every young hunter has to pass. But to do that, you gotta go
where the banshees are. Oo-rah.
Jake Sully: I was a stone cold arial hunter, death from above. Only
problem is, you're not the only one.
Trudy Chacon: [sarcastically, after she opens fire on Quaritch's
Dragon Gunship] Oops.
Trudy Chacon: You're not the only one with a gun, bitch.
Dr. Grace Augustine: Just relax and let your mind go blank. That
shouldn't be too hard for you.
Jake Sully: Kiss the darkest part of my lily white... [gets cut off]
Col. Quaritch: [addressing marines] Everyone on this base, every one
of you, is fighting for survival, and that's a fact. There's an
aboriginal horde out there massing for an attack. These orbital
images tell me that the hostile numbers have gone from a few
hundred, to well over two thousand in one day. And more are pouring
in. In a week's time there could be 20,000 of them. At that point
they will overrun our perimeter. That's not gonna happen. Our only
security lies in preemptive attack. We will fight terror with
terror. The hostiles believe that this mountain territory is
protected by their... diety. And when we destroy it, we will blast
a crater in their racial memory so deep, that they won't come
within 100 clicks of this place ever again. And that, too, is a
fact.
Col. Quaritch: You are not in Kansas anymore. You are on Pandora,
ladies and gentlemen. Respect that fact every second of every day.
If there is a Hell, you might want to go there for some R & R after
a tour on Pandora. Out there beyond that fence every living thing
that crawls, flies, or squats in the mud wants to kill you and eat
your eyes for jujubes. We have an indigenous population of
humanoids called the Na'vi. They're fond of arrows dipped in a
neurotoxin that will stop your heart in one minute - and they have
bones reinforced with naturally occurring carbon fiber. They are
very hard to kill. As head of security, it is my job to keep you
alive. I will not succeed. Not with all of you. If you wish to
survive, you need to cultivate a strong, mental aptitude. You got
to obey the rules: Pandora rules. Rule number one...
