Goofs

Continuity: Blood on Bert's chin while by the Jeep, when yelling at Jeff to hurry up.
Continuity: When Bert is being chased in the woods he puts his blood on a tree as a diversion; however, there is already blood on the tree which is probably from a previous take.
Continuity: After Karen jumps in the lake from the raft we see a shot of her and her hair is dry.
FAIR: Though the scenery dictates fall, and the characters say that they had just finished finals, they mean that they had just finished their Fall semester finals, not their end of year or spring semester finals.
Revealing mistakes: The store owner says that the total of the kids purchases comes to "$56.00 even" though it's clear that the money handed contains 2 one dollar bills along with 2 twenties and 2 fives.
SYNC: Just after Burt is caught stealing the Snickers bar, he climbs into the back of the truck and mumbles that he should burn the store down but his lips only appear to move as the truck takes off.
Continuity: When we first meet Dennis he is drinking a Dr. Pepper. In the very next shot he is drinking a grape soda.
Continuity: When Bert is shooting in the wood, the beer bottle he is drinking from is clearly empty. When he puts the beer bottle down by the fire, it changes briefly into a green wine bottle, and then back into a beer bottle again in the next shot.
Fact errors: The water supply in the cabin was connected directly to the reservoir. Water from reservoirs cannot be used for domestic purposes without a large treatment plant to remove minerals, kill bacteria and perform general filtering. Using a reservoir as a water supply for a remote cabin is highly improbable.
Continuity: When Bert is about to go shoot squirrels he takes a swig of his beer before going into the woods, but there's nothing in the beer bottle.
Crew: There is a cameraman visible in rear view mirror at the beginning of the film as the characters begin their trip out of town on the way to the cabin. Although this should normally qualify as a goof, this scene was left in by director Eli Roth on purpose. See also trivia section.
Continuity: The Ford F-100 truck the rednecks have changes from a 1973 with round headlights to a 1978 with square ones.
Continuity: After Deputy Winston takes Paul's statement, he puts his note pad in his pocket with the pen facing outward to the left. In the next shot, the pen is facing to the right and in the shot after that the pen disappears completely for one shot before reappearing and facing the right.
Continuity: The rims on the Chevrolet Blazer K-5 change.
Continuity: In the scene where Marcy is attacked by the dog, the camera shows her trying to get into the shed, and then cuts to the dog. When the camera shows her being taken down by the dog, she is wearing blue jeans. This is because the dog used was so vicious, the actors could not be around it, so a guy had to step in with protective layering on his arm to be attacked.
Revealing mistakes: When Marcy starts having sex with Paul, despite the fact that she throws him down on the bed from an upright position, when she falls on him there is a bed-sheet covering her ass. It's obvious that the sheet has somehow been stuck to her body, as it would have fallen off otherwise. (See trivia.)
FAIR: Justin (Grim) is clearly seen tying his dog to a tree when he meets the main characters at the bonfire. It was thought that when he leaves he just calls his dog and walks away, however you can still see him crouching by his tied up dog as the camera pans away.
Continuity: At the beginning of the sex scene between Marcy and Paul, Paul's left forearm is clearly seen on the pillow and he is not wearing a watch. A few seconds later, when his hands are on Marcy's back, there is a watch on his left wrist.
Revealing mistakes: In the scene where Marcy is lamenting that they are all doomed, in the background, there is a curtained window/door on the RIGHT hand side, and a oval-shaped wall hanging with a white frame on the LEFT. A few seconds later we see a close-up of Marcy's face and in the background, the wall hanging is on the right and the door on the left. Quite obviously, one of these pieces of footage was horizontally flipped.
Continuity: After Paul disinfects himself following his quick fling with Marcy, the level of Listerine in the bottle is clearly beneath the word "Listerine" on the label. In the next scene, when Marcy is washing her face, the bottle is clearly visible in the background and the level in the bottle is clearly above the word "Listerine".
Continuity: After Jeff runs away from the Cabin with the beer supply, Paul and Marcy drag Karen back in to the tool shed and close the door, leaving her in complete darkness. Minutes later, while Paul and Marcy are having sex, Karen is shown to be laying in a well-lit tool shed. The shed has no windows, so apparently the door has been mysteriously re-opened.
BOOM: When Marcy is washing her face in the bathroom, and turns around to see the red marks on her back in the mirror, the shadow of the boom mic is visible just over her shoulder (in the mirror).
Continuity: When Paul uses the bathroom after having sex with Marcy, there is a blue cylinder (it appears to be an aerosol) resting on top of the toilet cistern. Then, in the next scene, when Marcy is in the bathroom washing her face, the cylinder has suddenly shifted to atop the green shelves above the toilet.
Continuity: When Marcy starts having sex with Paul, they are on the left side of the bed, near the edge. Then, when the camera angle changes, the couple are in the middle of the bed.
Continuity: The bedclothes for Marcy and Jeff's bed remains consistent for the duration of the movie, save for the light-colored bed-sheet that appears during the sex scene between Marcy and Paul, that covers Marcy's behind, and then is not seen again.
Continuity: After washing her face in the washbasin, Marcy turns around to examine her back in the mirror, while clutching a hand towel. As she does so, the shot switches to a close-up. There is much more of the towel fanning out above her hands before the close-up than after.
Continuity: When Marcy notices the red hand-shaped marks that Paul left on her back, the fingers are pointing inward towards her spine, but the thumbs turned outwards, towards her armpits. Later, when the marks develop in to a pattern of weeping wounds, the thumbs have changed position, pointing parallel to the other fingers.
Continuity: When Marcy discovers the deterioration of her leg and turns on the shower to wash the blood off, the shower curtains are bunched up behind the shower head. The next time we see the bathroom, they are bloodstained and hanging around the door-side of the bath. Given the panicked state in which Marcy left, it is unlikely she would have moved the shower curtains so far before leaving.
Revealing mistakes: When Jeff discovers the bathroom in it's final, bloody state. There is blood in places that Marcy (the source of the blood) would never have touched, such as high up on the column of the bathroom sink.
Continuity: Facing inwards from the door, there is a rusty old muffler seen several times in the tool shed, on the right-hand-side. However, during the brief clip of Karen in the shed that occurs during the sex scene between Paul and Marcy, the muffler has moved to the left-hand-side of the shed.
Continuity: In scenes immediately before and after she sleeps with Paul, Marcy is wearing a silver ring on her right hand, yet it seems to disappear during the sex scene. Considering how impulsive the act was, it is unlike she would have stopped to remove it, and then replaced it.
Continuity: Through the course of the movie it is established that the door to the immediate left of the bathroom is Marcy and Jeff's bedroom. During the sex scene between Marcy and Paul this bedroom is well lit, but in a wide shot of Paul entering the bathroom immediately afterwards, we see that the room is in darkness.
Revealing mistakes: When Marcy is running from the vicious dog, you can see that she is wearing something white within the sleeves of her robe. She has just left the shower in a panic, so it is unlikely she would've put anything on before the robe.
Continuity: When Paul and Marcy first start having sex, the camera shot is looking over Marcy's shoulder. When Paul asks her, "You don't use condoms?" the bulk of Marcy's hair can be seen cascading down her back. Then the camera angle changes to a close-up of Marcy's face for her immediate reply, "Don't worry, I'm healthy." In this shot, most of Marcy's hair is suddenly hanging over the left side of her face.
Continuity: When Marcy gives her pessimistic "Like Being on a Plane" speech, the door frame and the wall hanging behind her cast strong shadows. Moments later, when she begins having sex with Paul, not only are the shadows much lighter, they are also cast in the opposite direction.
Continuity: At the beginning of the sex scene between Paul and Marcy, the red pillow on the left side of the bed is virtually upright, pinned there by Paul's head and the white pillow. Towards the end of the sex scene it is suddenly laying flat on the bed.
Continuity: Through a blurry shot, Marcy is shown being savaged to death by the mad dog right in front of the shed door. When Paul runs back to the cabin later, the bulk of Marcy's body is nowhere to be seen. Even the most savage of dogs could not devour an entire human body in only a few minutes.
Continuity: The scratch marks/rashes Paul leaves on Marcy's back while they're having sex should develop fastest at the fingertips (where the most pressure would've been applied) and slowest at the palms. This is the case during the part of the sex scene where Paul actually makes the marks, and later when the rashes begin to develop into weeping wounds, however in the scene in between, where Marcy first notices the rashes, their color is uniform.
Revealing mistakes: After the sex scene between Paul and Marcy, Paul goes in to the bathroom to disinfect his privates. Well before he reaches the bathroom, but a split second after the scene begins, the bathroom suddenly lights up all by itself.
Continuity: During the first sex scene, Marcy is wearing small earrings, while in all the scenes leading up to it, she is wearing large hoop earrings. This is because Cerina Vincent shot both her sex scenes back-to-back and her character was wearing smaller earrings at the time of the second sex scene.
Continuity: During the scene where Karen begins vomiting blood, there's a shot where you can see down Marcy's jeans and see that she is wearing white or light blue panties. However, in the scene where she is washing her face in the bathroom shortly after-wards, she is wearing panties with a leopard-skin design.
Revealing mistakes: When Marcy is cleaning Karen's face after she vomited blood everywhere, the paper towels are clearly not absorbing any of the blood.
Continuity: In the quick dog's-eye-view shot of the mad dog attacking Marcy, Marcy is wearing both her sandals, however, this is followed by a blurry wide-shot of the dog savaging Marcy, with one of her sandals in the foreground, many feet away from Marcy.
Revealing mistakes: When Paul wraps his arm around Marcy's back after they finish having sex, the base of his arm is about level with Marcy's waist. From this, it is obvious that Marcy was gyrating on Paul's chest or stomach, not his crotch.
Continuity: When the group first arrives at the cabin and Marcy enters the bedroom, the light beside the bed is already on.
Continuity: The sex scene between Marcy and Jeff is divided in to two parts by an intervening shot of Bert peeing in a creek. Before the break, the white pillow is seen beneath Marcy's head. But immediately after the break, despite the fact that Marcy and Jeff have virtually not moved, the pillow can't be seen and is later revealed to have moved all the way down behind Marcy's back.
Revealing mistakes: After Marcy flips on top of Jeff while having sex with him, there are a few brief instances where you can see a red cord/string flailing in the background between their bodies. This is the tie-string from some piece of clothing (most likely a bikini bottom) that she was obviously wearing.
Continuity: When Marcy is sitting in the bath shaving her legs the wounds on her back are severe, but not bleeding. A moment later, when Marcy starts panicking because the flesh is peeling off her legs, the area all around her back wounds is suddenly smeared with a large amount of blood.
Continuity: When Marcy first starts having sex with Paul, the left side of her is illuminated and the right side is in shadow. But when the camera angle changes to being directly behind her back, the right side of her body is illuminated and the left side is in shadow.
Continuity: When Marcy jumps up in the shower, she is clearly rising from a position directly under the shower head. But in the previous shot, she was sitting in the bath at the end furthest from the shower head.
Continuity: When Marcy first jumps up in the bath after shaving her flesh off, there is clearly still a fair amount of shaving cream on her legs. But a split second later, in the close-up of her bleeding legs there is no trace of shaving cream to be seen.
Revealing mistakes: Just before Marcy first throws Paul down on the bed to have sex with him, there is a deep dent in the white pillow the exact size and shape of Rider Strong's head in the exact position where his head lands. Obviously this dent was left over from a previous take.
Continuity: The last time we see the sores on Marcy's back, the finger marks on the left hand print are pointing virtually upwards, towards her head. When Paul was making the marks while having sex with Marcy, his hands are never at such a steep angle.
SYNC: The sex scene between Paul and Marcy is broken up by a shot of Karen laying motionless in the tool shed. During this shot, the excited breathing on the two lovers can still be heard.
PLOT: Paul told Marcy that he was just going to get Jeff and then they (Paul, Jeff and Marcy) were going to walk back to town together. So why does Marcy draw a bath and start shaving her legs instead of preparing for the journey?
Continuity: During the second sex scene, the pace of Marcy's movements changes drastically between alternating shots, despite supposedly being a continuous sequence.
Revealing mistakes: The cabin has a working fireplace, but no sign of a chimney on the roof.
Revealing mistakes: In the scene where Marcy is sitting on her bed, chastising Paul for "doing a number on her back", the bed frame which passes in front of the window, casts no shadow on the bed. This proves that the external "daylight" is really artificial light, as true sunlight is much brighter than any light artificial light that would've been in the cabin.
Revealing mistakes: The interior design of the cabin is unusually uncoordinated. Some walls are a messy assembly of planks on one side, while wallpapered on the other, despite the fact that the room has a similar plank design on another wall, etc.
Continuity: When seen from the outside, the cabin's windows are made of four rectangular glass panes, stacked one upon another. When seen from the inside, the windows are made of grids of square panes.
Continuity: Marcy had run all the way from the cabin to the tool shed before the dog mauled her to death. But when Paul finds her remains, they are scattered in a trail that begins just outside the cabin.

Quotes

[Bert leaves the cabin with a rifle]
Karen: Bert, what the hell is that?
Bert: Huh? Oh, I'm gonna go shoot some squirrels.
Paul: Why would you wanna kill squirrels?
Bert: 'cause they're gay.
Karen: Bert, don't be a fucking retard.
Bert: I'm kidding. I don't care if they're gay or straight, I'll kill
'em either way.
Bert: God damn it! What pancakes, you fuck?
Karen: That guy asked for our help. We lit him on fire. You'll
understand if I'm not in a particularly social mood.
Paul: So, what's the fox urine for?
Old Man Cadwell: Oh that's for foxes.
Karen: What's the rifle for?
Old Man Cadwell: That's for niggers.
Tommy: Boy, you wanna give me one good reason why you would steal a
snickers bar.
Bert: The nougat?
Justin: Yeah, he's a professor... OF BEING A DOG! OOOH, FACED!...
Scratch moded!
[Group is sitting around a campfire, telling stories]
Jeff: Tell them about The Happy Bald Guy.
Karen: No, I can't take it
Paul: He was the guy that gave us our shoes and quarters for the
video games. There was a room with a pool table too, but my dad
wouldn't let us go back there. The bald guy was always happy,
always smiling. But the killer got him too. When the cops searched
the place, they found all the hacked off limbs at the end of the
bowling lanes. The guy had bowled people's organs. Arms, legs,
everything. They found the bald guy's head in the ball return. He
was still smiling.
Marcy: That's not funny, Bert.
Bert: Yes it is, you fuckin slut.
Jeff: I don't want any of us getting sick, but you two fuckin'
fuckers insist on touching her, now she's bleeding all over both
you guys! So you two can fuckin rot, but not me, no fuckin way not
me! [Jeff runs off carrying beer]
[Jeff walks around the cabin after everyone dies]
Jeff: [yelling] I made it! I made it! I knew I'd make it! I fucking
made it!
Dennis: Pancakes. Pancakes!
Bert: No pancakes.
Dennis: PANCAKES!
Bert: No pancakes!
[last lines]
Old Man Cadwell: Hi, my nigga, how are you?
Ray Shawn: What's up, nigga? What you doin? Where ya been, man, where
ya been?
Bert: Goodnight, fucker.
Paul: Hey, where are you going?
Karen: Where does it look like I'm going?
Paul: But, well, I thought we were kissing.
Karen: Yeah, we were, weren't we?
Paul: So... you like me now? Like, is this a date?
Karen: Don't be gay.
Tommy: You bein' sick, that's your problem. Now Dennis is sick,
that's my problem. And if I get sick, that's Lucille's problem. So
we gotta stop the problem. We gotta stop the problem *right* now!
[shouts] Fenster, rifle!
Jeff: Hey, dipshit, what the fuck?
Bert: What are you, fuckin' Smokey the Clown now?
Jeff: Don't you mean 'Smokey the Bear?'
[first lines]
The Hermit: Hey, boy. Hey, boy. Hey, boy. Unn? C'mon, boy. Hey. Hey.
Hey, fella.
[last lines after credits]
Old Man Cadwell: Ah... word.
Paul: Bert, you okay? You don't look so hot.
Bert: Yeah, well, I don't feel so hot either.
Tommy: There's some kids in a cabin. They got a disease. They just
gave it to Dennis.
Fenster: We'll need "The Kit."
Deputy Winston: Looks like you guys were doing some pretty good
partying, huh?
Paul: Yeah, you know, we were drinking and then this guy came along
and tried to break into the cabin. We had no choice but to get
rough. I feel awful, but he was going crazy. He smashed into our
car, and then he wouldn't come out, so... we had to hit him. We
hurt him. We were terrified. We didn't know what to do. That's why
we went to look for help...
Deputy Winston: Hey, man, I told you... I'm gonna make a report.
Don't worry about it. He ain't gonna come back. Looks like you guys
scared him away pretty good. I ain't gonna let him ruin your fun.
Paul: Thank you. My friend's inside right now and she's pretty
freaked out. She wants to go home. We all kind of do.
Deputy Winston: A lady friend, huh? I bet you like to party.
Karen: Paul? Is everything okay?
Deputy Winston: Howdy, ma'am. Everything's Fine. Just go back inside,
have yourself a big 40... just party.
Karen: Umm... Okay.
Deputy Winston: Oh, Daddy, why are you talking about leaving? You've
got to stay and party.
Paul: That's why we came here in the first place.
Deputy Winston: I'm telling you, this is a major party town.
Paul: Really? Are you kidding me?
Deputy Winston: You know what it's like when you go to a new town and
you're the new guy? All the girls see you walking down the street.
They don't know you've got five pounds of dingaling meat. They're
looking for no commitment. You understand what I'm saying? I've
heard that theory before. This is that town. It's like when I go
party up at Wambusau. My cousin goes to school there. When I party
at Wambusau, I know I'm gonna get pussy. Plus the girls there don't
know I'm a deputy. So I know they're gonna party hard with me.
Believe me, man, they do.
Paul: That's too bad, I bet you ruled this town before you had a
badge.
Deputy Winston: Yeah, but a badge makes you grow up quick.
Paul: All the employees were held at gunpoint, and then after they
had been gagged and beaten, they were tied to chairs. They were set
in a circle, so that way, everybody was forced to watch everybody
else. And then the robber, this sick maniac, he goes and finds one
of those little ball-peen hammers, and then one by one, he smashed
the backs of their heads open with the hammer. Everyone had to
watch their friends die, knowing that they'd soon be next. The guy
doesn't stop there. He goes and he breaks out the fire axe. The
alarm goes off; he doesn't give a shit. He hacked off all their
limbs.
Marcy: [Two of Marcy's friends have caught the deadly virus, her
boyfriend has just run off and abandoned them, leaving her and Paul
alone in the cabin] We're all gonna get it. We're all gonna get
sick. Jeff's off in the woods getting drunk.
Paul: No. Burt's gonna get help, Karen will be fine. I promise.
Marcy: It's like being on a plane, when you know it's gonna crash -
everyone around you is screaming, yelling "We're going down! We're
going down!" And all you really wanna do is grab the person next to
you and fuck the shit out of them, 'cuz you know you're gonna be
dead soon, anyway. [She looks seductively at Paul, who actually is
'the person next to her']
Paul: [All their friends are dying of the mysterious virus, Paul and
Marcy have just started having sex] You don't use condoms?
Marcy: Don't worry, I'm healthy.
Marcy: [after the gang incinerated a diseased hermit who came to them
for help] You boys gonna kill *each other* now?
Karen: When you've known someone a long time, you just want to kiss
them just to see if they're a good kisser. There's nothing wrong
with that, right?
Paul: Who's up for a dip? [realizing he's just barged in on Jeff and
Marcy, who are stripping and about to have sex] We're... Uh...
Yeah! Safe Sex!
Jeff: Hey Paul?
Paul: Yeah?
Jeff: Have fun!
[From the trailer]
Paul: Is it safe?
Marcy: [Having sex with him] Don't worry, I'm healthy.
[Shortly after having passionate sex with Paul, Marcy discovers some
red marks on her back]
Marcy: Jesus, Paul, you really did a number on my back!
[Just after a tense discussion with the group about burning the
hermit to death]
Marcy: I need a bath. [Mumbling] Jeff's mom has such great ideas,
'Let's get a cabin'... so gay!
Marcy: [after having a spontaneous sexual encounter with her, Paul
awkwardly informs Marcy that he intends to leave the Cabin
immediately, which surprises her] What about Bert?
Paul: [Agitated] I can't wait for him any longer. I have to get out
of here!
Marcy: Paul, what about Karen? PAUL? [She sighs, realizing that he
has already gone, leaving her all alone]
