Goofs

Fact errors: The secret plans shown on the cartridge are at a very high resolution and include many "camera movements" such as zooms, pull-outs and pans. All of these were impossible to do on an Atari 5200.
Continuity: When Davey is picked up by the MacCreadys and taken to the car at the Alamo, it is daylight out. Shortly after leaving, it is night.
Continuity: Direction that the Cloak & Dagger game faces when, Jack Flack tosses it to Davey, changes.
Fact errors: Among the Atari 5200 games shown as being available in store shelves are Cloak & Dagger and Tempest. However, neither one of these games was ever released for the Atari 5200.
CHAR: Hal Osbourne is a Master Sergeant in the USAF yet refers to himself as a Staff Sergeant when he is convincing security to let him fake being a pilot at the end of the movie.
Revealing mistakes: When Davey is Driving Rice's Car in the parking Garage as he is exiting the parking garage you can clearly see that an adult is driving the car, not Davey.
Continuity: When Davey calls Kelly Field Air Force Base from the phone booth, he asks for "Master Sgt Hal Osbourne", but near the end of the film, Hal identifies himself as a Staff Sgt. Given his age, the former is more likely, which would be an E7 pay grade.
Fact errors: The secret plans on the cartridge are for an "invisible bomber." However, the schematic is clearly that of the SR-71 Blackbird, an unarmed spy plane.
FAIR: The Atari 5200 game cartridge is referred to a number of times by several different people as a "tape". While there is actually no tape inside an Atari 5200 cartridge, game players of that era often referred to such cartridges as "tapes". It was a common misnomer as cassette tapes were a prevalent medium at the time.
Revealing mistakes: When we first see Davy talking with Jack Flack in the staircase, Davy is looking at his reflection out through the window in the mirrored building next door. However, when Jack sits down next to Davy you can see a brief glimpse of his reflection in the mirror building, even though he is imaginary.
Miscellaneous: When Morris unlocks the plans on the video game, the word retrieval is misspelled.

Quotes

Davey Osborne: Jack Flack always escapes.
[last lines]
Davey Osborne: How'd you escape?
Hal Osborne: Jack Flack always escapes.
Davey Osborne: I don't need him anymore. I've got you, Dad.
Kim Gardener: It's not fair. Jack Flack always escapes. How does he
do it, Morris? I had ten times as many bullets.
Morris: Yeah, but Flack had ingenuity and the contacts, Kim. That's
better than bullets sometimes.
Lieutenant Fleming: I can tell you one thing: if we were at war, I'd
want him on my side.
Davey Osborne: [into walkie-talkie] Jack Flack to Lady Ace. Come in,
Lady Ace.
Kim Gardener: [into walkie-talkie] Yeah, Davey. What is it?
Davey Osborne: Come on, Kim. Play right.
Kim Gardener: Fine. Fine. Lady Ace to Jack Flack. Do you read me?
Davey Osborne: Loud and clear. I'll proceed to the building and you
follow me in.
Kim Gardener: This is what I meant by "embarrassing".
Jack Flack: [materializes from behind the bedroom door as Davey's
father is walking down the hall] Not too smart for a military man,
huh?
Davey Osborne: Shut up! [throws his Jack Flack miniature figure at
Jack, who gasps in surprise and vanishes]
Davey Osborne: [realizing that he has backed himself into a corner,
Davey raises the pistol] Don't come any closer or I'll shoot...
Rice: [Rice approaches Davey, slowly emerging from under the darkened
bridge] Yeah sure you will, red ink. Only this one [taps the
semi-automatic he holds, complete with silencer, as he is speaking]
shoots real bullets. [Rice pulls the reload switch on the weapon
for effect]
Davey Osborne: I'm warning you! This is not a water pistol...
Rice: Neither is this. I could turn you into shredded meat in about,
uh, three seconds with this baby if I wanted to. [Rice continues to
advance on Davey, slowly]
Jack Flack: [materializes next to Davey] Shoot him. Just pull the
trigger and shoot him, Davey.
Davey Osborne: Jack, I... [Davey looks quickly to Jack and back to
the advancing Rice, unsure what to do]
Jack Flack: All right, I'll show you what a real hero would do, watch
this! [Jack moves to the next wall to the right of Davey]
Davey Osborne: Jack?
Jack Flack: [the camera pans to Jack who now appears translucent,
somewhat ghostly. Rice, confused, looks to Jack's direction and
squints, apparently he can see someone, but he is unsure of who or
what he is exactly seeing. Jack has taken off his hat and is now
holding it over his chest] Come on, Turkey! Shoot! Come on! Right
Here! Come on, Hit Me! Pull the trigger!...
Davey Osborne: [Davey looks to where Jack is standing, quickly
glances back to Rice, and back to Jack, realizing that Jack is
about to be shot] Jack, don't! [Rice turns to Jack's direction and
fires many rounds, we see Jack being hit by the shots and pushed
back into the wall]
Davey Osborne: NO! [Davey turns back to Rice quickly, points and
shoots]
Rice: GAGH! [Rice is hit in the chest and falls back into the river,
dead]
Davey Osborne: Freeze turkey! [Rice steps back, apparently startled
that a kid has a gun, Davey looks back quickly to see Kim running
up the steps, then back to Rice] .
Davey Osborne: Take my advice, don't follow us... [Davey begins to
back away, moving in Kim's direction]
Rice: You little punk! [Rice lunges towards Davey, trying to grab the
gun, Davey pulls the trigger which shoots red ink, momentarily
blinding Rice] Gagh! [Davey uses the moment of surprise and runs
off] . Wha? [Rice dabs at his eyes, wiping away the red ink and
trying to determine which way the kids ran]
Jack Flack: Not that way Davey! It's a dead end!
Davey Osborne: Jack? [Davey moves to the wall and runs his hands over
the bullet holes caused by Rice's automatic weapon]
Jack Flack: [Jack materializes, sitting on the ground under the
bullet holes. He stands up] Hey! Congrats Davey, you won!
Davey Osborne: I thought he shot you...
Jack Flack: Nah, never touched me [Jack begins to pad himself down
making sure he wasn't hit. He picks up his beret and runs his
fingers through it, finding one bullet hole] Hmm.
Davey Osborne: [Davey runs his hands over the bullet holes again] But
he could see you...
Jack Flack: [Jack puts his beret back on] Ah, probably didn't have
much imagination anyway. [Jack moves over to the edge of the
riverwalk, and sees Rice, face down, floating down river] Huh.
Tough break. [Jack looks back to Davey and notices him belwidered
at what just happened, and holds him by the shoulders] Look Davey,
you killed the bad guys, you won the game! Well, how do you feel?
[Jack rubs Davey's head, messing up his hair in a "good job"
gesture] .
Davey Osborne: It wasn't fair. You made me shoot, you made me kill
him! [Davey begins to back away from Jack]
Jack Flack: Ah, classic self defense. Come on, let's go save Kim!
[Jack moves to grab Davey's arm]
Davey Osborne: [Davey throws down his Jack Flack minature figure and
stomps on it three times, breaking off the plastic base] I don't
wanna play anymore!
Jack Flack: Oh. Sigh, Why does this always have to happen? They grow
up, they forget, they... [Jack looks down Davey's broken minature
figure of himself on the ground] break their toys...
Davey Osborne: What?
Jack Flack: Your father said the same thing. [a slow dripping sound
is heard, like liquid on leather, slow at first, then quickens.
Jack looks down at his chest, noticing it's coming from him] Hmm?
Damn. [Jack has begun to bleed from several entry wounds where the
bullets hit him]
Davey Osborne: He did hit you! [Davey moves to Jack's side]
Jack Flack: Ah, I'll be all right, come on...
Davey Osborne: But, you're bleeding...
Jack Flack: Ah, Oh! [Jack takes a couple of steps forward, then falls
back against the wall, breathing heavy and slowly starts to slide
down the wall to a sitting position, Davey slides down with him,
trying to support his friend] Oh! [takes a razzled breath] Hey I
got an idea, maybe... [Jack struggles to stay focused] maybe you
should go on without me...
Davey Osborne: Don't say that, you'll be fine! [Davey begins looking
around for help]
Jack Flack: You know, I always hated that part... leaving... when
they stopped believing...
Davey Osborne: I'll go get some help... [Davey starts to get up]
Jack Flack: No No, don't go. [Jack roughly manages a smile, knowing
the end is near] They... they wouldn't be able to see me anyway.
Davey Osborne: But... I need you Jack... [tears begin to roll down
Davey's cheek, as he realizes his friend is dying]
Jack Flack: Ah, go on. You're growing up now, [Jack reaches to touch
Davey's cheek and wipe away a tear] you don't need an ol' jolly
pistol around like me anymore.
Davey Osborne: But... Jack Flack always escapes...
Jack Flack: You wanna know something? [Jack smiles] You're the best
playmate I ever had. Tell you what, [Jack looks behind Davey to the
table with the umbrella] , why don't you go over there and get me a
smoke? Over there, go on.
Davey Osborne: [Davey stands and walks towards the table, looking for
the ciagarettes. The camera pans back to Jack, who flickers twice,
a look of pain on his face, and then disappears] Jack? [Davey moves
back to where Jack was sitting] Jack come back, I can't do it on my
own!
Jack Flack: [Jack doesn't re-materialize, but Davey hears his voice
clearly] Yes you can! You were always on your own. Save Kim, Davey!
[Davey looks to his watch, seeing how much time is left to get to
the airport before the bomb explodes]
Davey Osborne: [Davey grabs up the Jack Flack minature figure off the
game board and puts it in his pocket] . Time to go, Jack!
