Plot: When a New York City teenager from Greenwich Village, Lola Steppe, is forced to move to the New Jersery suburb of Dellwood, she finds that in her new high school, there is another girl, Carla Santini, who already has claim to the title of most popular girl (and most rudest) that Lola had at her old school. Aiming to oust Carla from her reign, Lola and her new best friend, Ella Gerard, sets her sights on nabbing the lead role in the next big school play "Pygmalion", which Carla also hopes to star in. As the two girls engage in a war for popularity, Carla lashes back at Lola by obtaining tickets to the sold-out "farewell concert" of Lola's favorite band. Can Lola somehow sneak into the concert and quell Carla's latest scheme, and at the same time meet the band's English lead singer, Stu Wolff, whom she has such a crush on?

Goofs

Miscellaneous: The gear shift is obviously in the "park" position as the family leaves New York for the suburbs.
GEOG: Set in New York City, yet the concert theatre the band plays at clearly says "Elgin Theatre" which is in Toronto where the film was shot.
Continuity: Toward the end of the movie when Lola is in her first costume as Eliza and is talking to her mother before going on stage her cartilage earring disappears and reappears between shots.
Continuity: Lola's necklace changes position throughout the whole movie. From being high to her neck to going down to her chest.
Continuity: When the family is at the dinner table, one of the twins is sitting across from her twin, with Lindsay at the head of the table. In the next shot one twin is missing, and The mother is in the spot where the twin was. in the next shot the mother has walked away from the table and twin one is back in her seat.
Continuity: When biking to school for the first time, Lola's backpack changes arms after she parks. The cut is too quick for her to change arms between shots.
Continuity: In the scene where the girls are running through the hallway, Lola knocks the stack of videotapes behind her as clearly seen in the following shot. However, in the next shot, there are tapes ahead of her and she trips on one.
Continuity: In the scene where Lola is first riding her bike to school she is going down the street. She looks up, but is till going straight down the street yet she crashes into a tree beyond the sidewalk.

Quotes

Miss Baggoli: Press your bars, children...
Ella: You can't - do this, Lola, everyone is depending on you,
whaddabout, your parents and Sam, Sam has never been to a school
function in his life, he's only going because of you! And what
about me? I was miserable until you came to Dellwood. I thought
everyone's life was like mine, just doing everything you're
supposed to do when you're supposed to do it, never questioning
anything. Ugh, the only thing I could expect when I grew up was a
life like my parents' and then... I met you. You gave me courage,
Lola. Because of you I'm brave enough to be different. Don't touch
me! You're a sham! The one thing Carla can't do anything about is
you being Eliza Doolittle, and you're just gonna hand it to her.
Karen: You are a Lola.
Stu: [looking at cup of coffee placed in front of him] That's not
onion rings...
Lola: [as Eliza] I will be a teacher because being a teacher is the
most worthy thing a person can be.
Lola: So how've you been?
Stu: Sober. I'm in recovery - again. Someone very sweet called me a
drunk. And I didn't like it.
Lola: I like your... boots.
Lola: Life can be so randomly beautiful.
Lola: I lied because I wanted to make myself seem more interesting.
Ella: More interesting? We are 1,000 miles from home in a New York
police station with a drunken rock star waiting for your dead
father to show up. You want to be more interesting? More
interesting than what?
Ella: I'm getting really scared being out here all alone, Lola.
Lola: We're not alone. We're with an adult.
Ella: Aside from the fact that he isn't actually with us, he isn't
actually an adult. He's a rock star.
Ella: If we go, I just know something is gonna go wrong. I'm gonna
die, and my parents are gonna find out.
Ella: Maybe we should just go to the hotel.
Lola: What? And miss the concert? Yeah, I don't think so.
Ella: We're not actually at the concert.
Lola: We're close. Stu Wolff's only a few yards away from us. And
then he'll be at the after-party with us.
Ella: Your belief system amazes me.
Ella: 67 blocks is "around the corner"?
Lola: I sunk into a depression only Hamlet would recognize.
Stu: It's my mother's birthday today, I bought her a rug...
Lola: Here's what I learned: when you're happy, the whole world's New
York. And that dreams are important. Someday, when you're not even
looking, they find you.
Lola: It was the first time I realized that absolute reality could be
so much more fun than fantasy.
Carla: It still amazes me that I get everything I want
