He is sent to trial and accepts a deal proposed by the prosecutor, being sentenced to three years in prison. During the transportation, there is an incident in the bus and Wade is framed and sent to the maximum security wing under the command of the corrupt Lieutenant Jackson. His cell-mate John Smith that was sentenced to life revenging the death of his family befriends Wade and gives helpful advices and hope to Wade to return to his family. |

Crew: You can see the white tape covering the Tropicana logo on the No Pulp Orange Juice container when they are having breakfast. Continuity: As the movie begins, we see Wade outside. Then it cuts inside to Laura putting some bananas into Michaels cereal (47 seconds into the movie). As the camera pans left we see the orange juice container in the bottom left of the frame already on the table. In the next shot, Wade is coming to the table and the orange juice is NOT on the table. Wade is carrying it in his hand and sets it down on the able. CHAR: In the beginning of the movie John refers back to how his daughter would have been 27 at that time but by the tattoo calender on his arm she should have only been 22 or 23. CHAR: Opposing prison gangs would never be allowed to share the same small recreation yard in an Administrative Segregation Unit. The only time this would even occur would be on the mainline population yard. Fact errors: Towards the beginning of the movie as Wade is speaking to his Public Defender she mentions that the bail is set at $1M dollars and whether he had $1M dollars to put up as collateral. In reality he would only have to put up 10% which would have been $100,000. |

John Smith: When your life is defined by a single action, it changes the concept of time. Laura Porter: It's just that anytime I hang on to any bit of hope it gets taken away from me. Gordon Camrose: Though it wasn't the only reason I watched out for him. And I tried to explain that to him. He was one of my true friends. Wade Porter: Mine too. Officer Collins: Close 13. [door closes] Snowman: Come on. I'm supposed to be in PC the rest of my term. Jackson said. Officer Collins: Jackson's dead... you can get up. [last lines] John Smith: Usually I'm quoting someone else's words. The least I can do is give you some John Smith originals. They won't be poetic. But they'll be the truth. Yes, prison desensitizes you. But it also forces you to see what's most important. Family. And loyalty. Because a con like you knows neither exists in this place. So don't run from who you've become, felon. Embrace it. Grow from it. And you'll never lose sight of what truly matters. That's my final piece of advice, Wade Porter. You protect your family at all costs. Even if you're forced to kill again. Because if i had to, I'd wipe out the whole planet to get mine back. So long, friend. John Smith: What a piece of work is man. And there is no good or bad, but thinking makes it so. Human beings are perhaps never more dangerous than when they are convinced beyond a doubt that they are right. Patience. Penance. Wade Porter: [to Laura] Stay in this room. LA Judge: [to Wade] This court sentences you to three years in state prison. John Smith: [first words to his new cell mate] You jerk off? Face the wall. You break wind? Put your ass to the door. You shit or piss? In the can. You do all that, we'll get along famously. |
