Hong Kong - 3,436,169 HKD (1978) |
| Plot: | Bruce Lee plays Billy Lo, a HongKong based movie actor, who is a box office draw. His girlfriend, Ann Morris is a singer who is also climbing to the top. Now it seems the syndicate wants Billy and Ann to join their "management firm". But Billy knows that they will be treated like property, so he refuses and tells her to do the same. So they try to "encourage" him to join but he still refuses. He would be advised that they will not stop, so he must stop them, permanently. He is even more hesitant to do that but when an attempt on his life is made, he fakes his death and alters his appearance, and decides to go after the syndicate; taking them out one at a time. |

Revealing mistakes: In the beginning of the movie, a scene where you can see Lee's face in the mirror of his trailer. It's obviously a cardboard cutout, as the neck below it moves freely about unconnected to the head. Continuity: Size of footprint on Lee's chest. Continuity: When Steiner fires his pistol at Billy Lo, the smoke of the bullet impacting the tree appears on the opposite side. Revealing mistakes: During the last Billy Lo/Steiner fight, Steiner tries to hit Billy with two kicks. Each time we see Billy dodging the kicks, the foot is actually Hakim's. Continuity: Throughout the final scenes of the movie, spliced-in footage of Bruce Lee does not correspond with doubles. Facing and body orientation relative to his opponent switches from shot to shot. Continuity: When Billy ascends to the top level of the restaurant to confront Dr. Land, only to find that he has apparently slit his wrists, the boxing bag and staircase from the fight with Hakim can be seen in the spliced-in footage of Bruce Lee. Continuity: During Billy Lo's fight in the dressing room with "Killer Miller" there is wallpaper in the background of one shot even though the fight is taking place in a room with bare cement walls. Continuity: When Billy is proceeding to Hakim's level, on the bottom of the staircase, you see Chiech Yuan's body appear out of the blue. Same with when he was fighting the gold belt judo master. At the beginning of when they were fighting, there was no at the bottom but then when Billy is proceeding to the next level, it appears Continuity: At the beginning of the movie when Billy, Anne and Jim Marshall were talking, Marshall told Billy that Charlie Wang was fished out of the harbour the next day but right when Billy goes to fight Hakim, behind him you see Charlie's dead body lying there. Continuity: When Billy is thrown over the guy's shoulder, we see the same set of nunchakus from Pasqual's level. Billy threw his nunchakus down on Pasqual but on the second floor when he is fighting the judo guy, they're there again. Continuity: When Billy goes to the weapons-level, he has a blue bako stick but when the camera goes close up to when billy throws down his nunchakus, the bako becomes green Revealing mistakes: In the nunchaku scene when Billy and Pasqual are dueling, Billy's second nunchaku bends, revealing it to be foam rubber. Continuity: When Billy arrives at the restaurant (end fight) it is midnight, but when he is fighting Hakim it is suddenly daylight, seen when Billy is pushed by Hakim and makes him break a paper window. Continuity: The condition and style of Billy's running shoes changes during the final fight scenes. In some scenes they are brand new and in other scenes, they are old sneakers taped to resemble the shoes that Bruce Lee wore. A good example of this is when Billy approaches his nunchuck bag before his fight with Pasqual. You can clearly see that the his shoes are old and the black stripe pattern is actually made by strips of black electrical tape. Continuity: Just before his fight with Billy, Pasqual picks up two Filipino escrima sticks and you can clearly see that one stick is only half the length of the other stick. Moments later, the sticks Pasqual uses are equal length. |

Steiner: Dr Land. Dr Land: Yes? Steiner: The money is all here. Every dollar. Dr Land: I'd be surprised if it weren't. [Billy stops Ann from shooting Dr Land] Billy Lo: Let it go. What must be done is being done. Dr Land: [referring to Ann's calling Land and Steiner murderers after Billy's death] Rude bitch. Steiner: One rebel begats another. It's the Billy Lo syndrome. Dr Land: A venereal disease. Often terminal. Billy Lo: You lose Carl Miller! Steiner: You've got till tomorrow morning to call us. It's the last time we're gonna ask Billy. Hai Tien: [Original Dialouge] Do you speak any Enlgish? 3rd Floor Guardian: Of course I speak English. Hai Tien: I hope you don't mind if we move our man so we could have more room to groove. 3rd Floor Guardian: But... Have your men stay as far away from the stairway as possible Hai Tien: [as Tien moves an unconscious Cheh out of the way Hai Tien prepares to fight with his bamboo whip] You know baby, this bamboo is longer, more flexible and very much alive, and if your flashy routine cannot keep up with the speed and elusiveness of this thing here, all I can say is you will be in deep trouble. 3rd Floor Guardian: That we will have to find out. Hai Tien: [during the fight Hai Tien gains the upper hand] I am telling you it is difficult to have a rehearsed routine to fit in with broken rhythm [they fight and Hai Tien hits yhe guardian again] see, rehearsed routines, lack the flexibility to adapt. [first lines] Director: Cut! Okay, that's a print. That was great, Billy! Okay everybody... [stage light collapses, crew gasps] [last lines] Dr Land: Son of a bitch! Goddamn bastard! Goddamn...! [screams and falls] |
