Crew: Just under 56 min in (saw pre-release screener on DVD so timing may not reflect theatrical release timing) a crew member is clearly visible as the duo drive off after abducting a teen school kid. He's wearing shades and is definitely not in a cast member. Fact errors: The 'Toronto Sun' newspaper depicted in the movie is in broadsheet format. The actual 'Toronto Sun' is published in tabloid format. The movie version of the 'Sun' actually more closely resembles the real 'Toronto Star', its competitor, which is published in broadsheet format. Continuity: SPOILER: In the scene where Paul throws Karla into the cellar, he smashes the light bulb on his way out. When he catches her trying to escape and beats her, the intact light is clearly visible as he gets up to leave. Continuity: SPOILER: In the scene where Bernardo throws Karla down the cellar steps, as she is rolling down, she is wearing pantyhose. In the next scene, as he drags her from the steps, her legs are bare. Fact errors: Ontario law states that all vehicles must have license plates on both the front and rear, however none of the vehicles in the film have front plates. This is most likely due to the fact that it was filmed in Los Angeles. Fact errors: The telephone number on the taxi that drops the Bernardos off after their honeymoon displays the area code "613". At that time, the only area code for St Catharines/Niagara was 905. (613 is the area code for Ottawa/Eastern Ontario.) GEOG: The actual border between Ontario and New York is the Niagara River; this border seems to be in the middle of the woods somewhere. DATE: An Incubus poster from there 1999 album "make yourself" is displayed in Paul's recording room. The movie is supposed to take place in 1992/93. |

[first lines] Dr. Arnold: Dear Karla, this is to inform you that after serving 8 years of your 12 year term, you're now eligible for parole. In connection with this eligibility, you are to be transferred to this facility for extended evaluation. After the end of which, it will be my responsibility to recommend for or against parole. Dr. Arnold: Nothing's off limits Karla. You can tell me what you did. Paul Bernardo: [strolling into the house] Hey babe. Karla Homolka: Where've you been? Paul Bernardo: I just raped a girl. Paul Bernardo: I'm going out with some friends. Taking these just in case. [dangling pantyhose] Paul Bernardo: Hey babe. Karla Homolka: Are you sure no one saw you? Karla Homolka: I just wanted to get married. Kaitlyn Ross: Why do you stay? Karla Homolka: You don't understand. Paul Bernardo: Death is nothing to be afraid of. Kaitlyn Ross: I'm not afraid. You can't hurt me. [choking sound] Karla Homolka: I'm sorry. Paul Bernardo: Yeah you are sorry. Karla Homolka: For the first time Paul wasn't controlling me. And it felt really good. Karla Homolka: You think I killed Kaitlyn Ross, don't you? Dr. Arnold: My report addresses what you might or might not do in the future. Not what you did or did not do in the past. [last lines] Karla Homolka: Dr Arnold was right. I did kill somebody. I killed my sister. How can anyone ever be forgiven for that? I think about what I did every day. I really do. Paul Bernardo: Do you really think you can pull something like that and not have to pay for it, huh? |
