| Plot: | In morte veritas. Georgia Byrd clerks at a New Orleans department store. She defers pleasure: cooks gourmet meals, eats Lean Cuisine; likes a co-worker in silence; has savings, but hasn't left Louisiana. All that changes when a CT Scan discloses she has three weeks to live. She cashes her savings and heads to Europe's Grandhotel Pupp, where Chef Didier presides. She checks into the Presidential Suite, orders everything on the menu, snowboards, and comes to the attention of the chef and the hotel's powerful American guests: a Congressman, a Senator, a retail magnate, and his mistress. She has nothing to lose, so she tells them what she thinks. Will the truth set them free? |

Crew: When Ms. Burns goes to Georgia's door, to tell her she's sorry, and that she's left Matthew, a crew member's face is reflected in the gold plating on the door. Continuity: Early in the film, Georgia's book bears only the title "Possibilities." At the close of the film, the same book is titled "Book of Possibilities." Fact errors: When at the roulette table, one of the characters tells Georgia that her single bet on black 17 is very large. After winning 3 times in a row on that number, rebankrolling her winnings each time she walks away from the table and the other character tells her she has won almost 100,000 us dollars. Since roulette pays 36 to 1 on a single spot, that means her initial bet was only approximately 2 dollars! Since she has approximately 4 stacks of red chips ($5) I would estimate her to have put about $400 down initially, which would have netted her about 18.6 million! Continuity: When Georgia is trying on clothes in the boutiques, she already has tweezed eyebrows although in the previous scenes her brows are still thick. She will only have her makeover done (her brows being tweezed, among others) several scenes later. Continuity: When Georgia is meeting with her HMO Administrator, the Administrator tells her she can appeal the HMO decision to not operate by putting three huge books on the desk between them. Georgia pulls one book off but in the next shot the three books are back on the desk. Revealing mistakes: When Georgia is trying on the black and white striped suit, she is wearing the same chain necklace that one of the sales clerks is shown placing around her neck a couple of shots later. Fact errors: In the beginning of the movie, as Darius snoops in the possibilities book, he discover's the character Sean, Georgia says that his name is "Sean, Sean Williams". However, LL Cool J's character is credited as Sean Matthews. Continuity: When Sean is standing on the ledge with Georgia and Mr. Kragen, his position changes between shots. Sometimes his elbow is propped on the window sill; sometimes his arms are down at his side. Continuity: When Darius first takes the 'Possibilities' book out of the drawer, the little square on the cover with the title in it has a plastic sheet. When the book is on the table the plastic is gone. Revealing mistakes: Even though it's supposed to be cold outside, none of the characters ever have steam coming out of their mouths when they breathe. Fact errors: The croupier at the roulette table announces "no more bets" and then Kragen puts his bet on the table. At a real casino he would have been asked to remove his bet, since betting was closed. Fact errors: The casino employee reports Georgia's roulette winnings total 15,546,305 Czech crowns (CZK), which one character says is "about a hundred thousand dollars". At the exchange rate during the time of shooting, this would be far closer to about $650,000 (USD). (However, later in the film, Georgia's casino receipt is seen showing "3,546,305 K", which would have been around $150,000.) Continuity: When Georgia starts saying "Why Me" in the church and the whole church abrupt with noise, she starts going down the aisle. She stops to rest next to the guy in the red suit and looks up, the next scene follows and she is now next to someone who we cant see, not next to the guy in the red suit. Continuity: When Georgia books her trip to Karlovy Vary on Travelocity, the departure date for her flight originally indicates December 26. However, on the next screen, the departure date indicates December 25. The flight attendant announces the flight as December 25 (Christmas holiday). Continuity: The Presidential Suite door to the Grandhotel Pupp opens inward after Georgia returns from the music concert. However, at the end of the movie when Georgia is talking to Ms. Burns at the doorway, this door opens outward. Continuity: In the scene where Georgia and Kragen prepare to base-jump, both Georgia and Kragen are seen climbing over the railing in order to stand on the dam's ledge. In two camera shots the area of the ledge near their feet is almost entirely free of snow. However, in single close up shot of this ledge area there is much more snow visible. Revealing mistakes: When Georgia and Rochelle are riding the escalator at Krogen's Department Store a sign in the fragrance section behind appears to say, "Dillard's", the likely true location of the filming. Continuity: When Kregan and his guests are first shown eating together in the Granhotel Pupp restaurant, the wine in their glasses switches between white wine and red wine several times. Continuity: When Kregan and his guests are first shown eating together in the Granhotel Pupp restaurant, Kragen asks from the waiter for each guest to be served water. However, a previous camera shot indicates that water has already been served to each guest. Continuity: When Georgia is seated for her first meal in the Grandhotel Pupp restaurant, the table next to her is seated at roughly the same time. But, when Georgia places her order minutes later, the table next to her is already eating their meal. Continuity: When Georgia is shown seated at her table in the Grandhotel Pupp restaurant, her hair changes position many times as we see her from various camera angles. The changes are most noticeable when she is conversing with Chef Didier. Continuity: When the Grandhotel Pupp hotel staff are conversing in the kitchen about Georgia, the hotel's receptionist is seen placing a spoon inside of her mouth for several seconds. This spoon changes location based on the various camera angles. Continuity: When Georgia is coming to at the hospital after banging her head, she imagines Sean loosening his tie, and whispering "I love you". When she looks at him again, the tie is back; and when she looks the third time, it is loosened again. |

Georgia Byrd: No, I ain't worried about aging. Gunther: So that will be all? Georgia Byrd: Ooh... ah... yes! The colon irrigation treatment. That's my gift to you. Sorta like a 'let's be friend's' gesture. Now you think of me when you're having it! Ms. Burns: Who was it who said 'Adversity is the stone on which I sharpen my blade?' HMO Administrator: The cost of a median cranial debulking surgery is around $340,000. That's without anesthesia. You'll want that. Anton: Ms. Byrd something terrible is happening. Ms. Burns: [deadpanned] Matthew Kragen jumped out a window? Anton: Not yet, he's still on the windowsill Chef Didier: You and I, we know the secret to life [whispers] it's butter. Matthew Kragen: Where are you going? Ms. Burns: Well, first I'm going to go find Georgia, and then I'm gonna go back to school and I'm gonna get my business degree. And then one day, when your wife finally decides to divorce you and takes half of everything you have, I'll only be too happy to help her figure out exactly how much that should be. |
