Continuity: In the scene outside the prison where Nick punches Clyde in the face. One shot shows Clyde's mouth and teeth filled with blood, his teeth are red. The next shot is Nick saying another line, then they go directly back to Clyde and he is speaking and there is no blood whatsoever on his face or teeth. CHAR: Jamie Foxx calls Clyde "Clive". Continuity: The asparagus, which Clyde Shelton is eating in the jail scene, changes sizes between several shots. Continuity: In the scene where Clyde gives Nick and his legal team until 6:00 to release him the camera shows the clock turning to 6:00 for dramatic effect. Then seconds later when nothing has happened yet Sarah's watch is five minutes fast. (This may be a deliberate error made by the filmmakers if her character simply keeps her watch fast.) Fact errors: SPOILER: During the lethal injection scene three plungers are seen being pressed by a machine to inject the drugs, each in under one second. The largest peripheral venous catheters available have a maximum flow of about 350 ml per minute. The displayed amount of liquids could never have been administered in that short time. FAIR: When Nick Rice (Jamie Foxx) is on his Mac, the software he is shown using is Windows Vista, not OSX. All modern Macs can dual-boot, and run Windows natively, so Rice's Mac running Vista is not in error. FAIR: SPOILER: When confessing to the murder of Darby, Clyde says one of the tortures was to cut off his toes with with tin snips, yet in the video the first act of torture is to cut his leg off with a circular saw. However, this was probably to invalidate the confession Clyde gave and hence allow him to broker a further deal against a later confession. Continuity: When Darby is running to the cop car, about 20 minutes into the movie, you can see exhaust from the Police Interceptor coming from the tail-pipes, but when he tells the "cop" to start the car, he turns the ignition to start the motor. FAIR: When Darby is running across the roofs, the path which he is taking is already shoveled. However, this could all have been set up in advance by Clyde, whom we know to be a brilliant tactician. Revealing mistakes: In the recital scenes, it is obvious that the cello shown on screen is not making the music being heard. At the first recital the bowing does not match, and at the second the finger placement is wrong. Revealing mistakes: when you first see Darby on the table about to be tortured, Clyde moves about the end of the table. as he does he brushes up against Darby's foot and you can see the foot and end of the leg wobble revealing that is is made of rubber. CHAR: A cellist would never touch the hair of the bow. It's easily damaged by oils on the skin. SYNC: In the scene after Sarah's funeral where Jonas is killed, the Chevy Tahoes driving away are hybrids. Tahoe Hybrids run entirely on electric motors at low speeds, and as such there would be no engine sound. Fact errors: In the death penalty scene it appears to take place at the Philadelphia prison. However, in the state of PA, all executions take place at Rockview. That prison is located in Central PA, approximately 4 hours to the west of Philadelphia. Continuity: During the scene where Nick Rice is flying in a helicopter to rescue Bill Reynolds the helicopter has a "N94PD" call-sign on the side of it and the pilot calls out on the radio "N94PD" but when the copter lands it has a "N95PD" call-sign on its side. SYNC: When Clyde is eating the asparagus in his jail cell, the crunching sounds are abnormally loud, do not exactly match his biting motions, and are obviously Foley'ed in. Fact errors: Throughout the film Clyde is being held in a maximum security prison complete with solitary confinement, convicted inmates, and a warden. However, Clyde has not yet had a trial nor ever been convicted of any crime, therefore would be held in a county jail, which is much different than a prison. CHAR: Clyde ordered french fries (pommes frites) to go with this steak as part of his deal, however, came lunch time, no fries were served. Crew: SPOILER: During Clyde's trial appearance, the smoke billowing from a smoke machine can clearly be seen in the background behind Nick's prosecution team. Fact errors: SPOILER: The bomb found in City Hall at the end of the movie is based on Napalm (Malaglinite which is not a real explosive compound). This would have little effect on the structure of the building and would have done nothing more than set fire to the building (as you can see from the final scene). This would give time for the Mayor to escape. The SEMTEX found in Clyde's hideout would have produced the desired result of destroying the building and would have made more sense to use. PLOT: SPOILER: When they find the bomb in City Hall, Garza says the bomb has a 30 second delay, but this is just a guess. Nick would have no way of knowing that the 30 second delay was true. So when he confronts Clyde back at the prison, doesn't know when the bomb will function after Clyde makes his final phone call. It could have functioned straight away, killing them both. Continuity: When the waiter from Del Friscos hands the steak over, he says "Porterhouse, medium rare." Clyde ordered the steak medium. FAIR: SPOILER: When the bomb disposal robot activates the EMP pulse to disable the vehicles, it fries the electrical system, yet a call is received on a radio seconds later. The radios would have been rendered useless as well unless the radios had been turned off prior to the EMP blast, in which case they would still function if turned on after the incident. Revealing mistakes: The rocket propelled grenade fired (at 1:16:00) has an apparently correct smoke trail, but about 2 seconds later, when the same shot can be seen again and the explosion is still ongoing, the smoke trail is completely gone. |

[from trailer] Clyde Shelton: You're the one who makes deals with murders yea? Well I've come to make mine. Release me. Nick Rice: [smugly] Or what? Clyde Shelton: Or I kill everyone. [from trailer] Nick Rice: You end this! Clyde Shelton: [smiles] I'm just gettin' warmed up. Clyde Shelton: I'm gonna pull the whole thing down. I'm gonna bring the whole fuckin' diseased, corrupt temple down on your head. It's gonna be biblical. Jonas Cantrell: Tell us what we're dealing with. Shelton was a spy...? Bray: Look, spies are a dime a dozen. I'm a spy. Clyde is a brain. He's a think tank-type guy. His specialty was low-impact kinetic operations. Nick Rice: That's a hell of a fancy way to say that he kills people. Bray: We kill people. He figured out how to do it without ever being in the same room. It was his gift, and he was the best. One time, we're tasking this tricky target. I mean, we're usin' cruise missiles and Predators, and we even had a B-2 Bomber flatten this guy's villa with JDAM. Alright, we're burnin' up millions in ordinance and we're gettin' nowhere with this guy. So we call Clyde, and we ask him to solve our problem. Clyde develops a Kevlar thread with a high-tech ratchet made of carbon fiber. Put it in a necktie. Two days later, Mrs. Bad Guy comes home, finds Mr. Bad Guy dead on the bathroom tile, choked to death. What I'm sayin' is, just assume that this guy can hear and see everything that you're doing. Nick Rice: No. We got him locked away; maximum security. Bray: He's in jail, it's because he wants to be in jail. He's a born tactician. Every move that he makes, it means something. That cellmate that he killed, what, you think that was random? No. That's a pawn being moved off the board. If I were you, I'd be lookin' for the next piece. Anybody who had anything to do with that case, he's gonna be comin' after you. Nick Rice: So what are you sayin'? You sayin' we can't stop him? Bray: Walk into his cell, and put a bullet in his head. Aside from that, no, you can't stop him. If Clyde wants you dead, you're dead. Clyde Shelton: That's what a wrench is for, dumbass! Nick Rice: You think your wife and daughter would feel good about you killing in their name? Clyde Shelton: My wife and daughter can't feel anything. They're dead. Clyde Shelton: I want one of those really nice beds. I just... I can't think straight without a nice sleep. The bed in my cell is just so lumpy. Nick Rice: The ones on TV really late night? Clyde Shelton: Yeah, that's the one. Nick Rice: The one with the old couple in the bed? Clyde Shelton: Yeah. It has lumbar support. Nick Rice: Okay, I know what you mean. Clyde Shelton: So? Are you going to take the deal? Nick Rice: Fuck no. [Burch's cell phone rings; she reaches for it] Nick Rice: Hey, wait, you're gonna take that? After all the grief you've given me over cell phones? Judge Laura Burch: Well, that's one of the benefits of being a judge, Mr. Rice. I can... pretty much do whatever I want. Nick Rice: It's not what you know. It's what you can prove in court. Clyde Shelton: [to Judge Burch] I'll bet you take it up the fuckin' ass to, bitch! Jonas Cantrell: Clyde's government contract payments were bothering me, so I pulled some ancient strings. We're meeting someone. Nick Rice: Who might that be? Jonas Cantrell: Someone who does some really nasty shit so we can live the American Dream. Nick Rice: [to Darby] Please fuck this up, so I can destroy you. [repeated line] Clarence Darby: Can't fight fate. Clyde Shelton: This... Tetrodotoxin. Should be nicely into your system by now. Isolated from the liver of a Caribbean Puffer Fish. So, it paralyzes you... and leaves all the other neurological functions perfectly intact. In other words, you can't move... but you feel everything. It does absolutely nothing to blunt the pain... and you're about to experience more of that, than you could ever fucking imagine. Nick Rice: I had to call his wife and tell her that her husband had been buried alive. Clyde Shelton: Well, justice should be harsh Nick... especially for those who denied it to others. Clyde Shelton: [covered in blood after he murders his cellmate] I need a shower, Warden. Clyde Shelton: [about the Warden] I don't think he likes me very much. Dwight Dixon: What'd you do to get in here, anyways? Clyde Shelton: I did what I had to do. Jonas Cantrell: The hard part isn't making the decision. It's living with it. Clyde Shelton: ln my experience, Nick, lessons not learned in blood are soon forgotten. Clyde Shelton: [in court, laughing and clapping after judge grant bail, after his charade] Thank you. Judge Laura Burch: Excuse me? Clyde Shelton: No, I don't think I will excuse you. You see, this is what I'm talking about. You were about to let me go. Are you kidding me? This is why we're here in the first place. You think I don't remember who you are, lady? Judge Laura Burch: I would tread carefully, Mr. Shelton. Clyde Shelton: Well, how carefully should I tread? Because apparently I just killed two people, and you were about to let me walk right out that door! How MISGUIDED are you? I feed you a couple of bullshit legal precedents, and there you go - you jump on it like a bitch in heat. Folks, you all hang out... Judge Laura Burch: [nervously starts pounding with gavel on a sounding block] I'm warning you, Mr. Shelton! Clyde Shelton: ...in the same little club... Judge Laura Burch: You will be held in contempt! Clyde Shelton: ...and every day you let madmen and murderers back on the street. You're too busy treating the law... Judge Laura Burch: [keeps pounding] One more time! Clyde Shelton: ...like it's a fucking assembly line! Judge Laura Burch: One more time. Clyde Shelton: Do you have any idea what justice is? Judge Laura Burch: You are now... Clyde Shelton: Whatever happened to right and wrong? Judge Laura Burch: ...in contempt of court. Clyde Shelton: Whatever happened to right and wrong? Judge Laura Burch: Remove this man. Clyde Shelton: Whatever happened to the people? Judge Laura Burch: Bail denied! Clyde Shelton: Whatever happened to justice? Judge Laura Burch: Bail denied! Clyde Shelton: And I bet you take it up the fucking ass, bitch. Judge Laura Burch: Bailiff! Clyde Shelton: [to Nick Rice, as he's being dragged away in cuffs by policemen] Hey, see you later, Nick. |
