| Plot: | Anna Brady from Boston is a planner that stages apartments for Realtors. Anna has been dating cardiologist, Jeremy, for four years and they are buying a high standard apartment in Davenport together. Anna expects Jeremy to propose to her on a dinner date but he gives her a gift instead, after which he travels to Dublin for a congress. Anna decides to meet him in Dublin on the February 29th and propose to him in accordance with an old Irish folklore tradition from the Fifth Century of leap-year proposals by women. However, her airplane is forced to land in Wales due to bad weather and she is not able to find a connection since the Dublin airport is closed. She decides to travel on a supply vessel but is forced to disembark in Dingle due to a storm. Anna walks to the only restaurant and inn and hires the unfriendly owner Declan to drive her to Dublin. Declan agrees to drive her as he needs the money to pay of his debts but their journey is fraught with many incidents. |

Revealing mistakes: In the scene where it begins to hail, it appears only in a small square of the frame. The line where the hail stops is clearly visible. Continuity: When they are sitting at the dinner table with the two couples after the husband pours everyone a drink the bottle is sitting on the table with the rear label facing the camera, the shot cuts away and when it returns you can see the name of the whiskey they are drinking because the front label is now facing the camera Revealing mistakes: The whole premise of the film is that on Leap Day (i.e. February 29th) a woman can ask a man to marry her in Ireland. Yet when they finally arrive in Dublin there are leaves on all the trees in the park and people are going around without any heavy coats. Either it is a freakishly warm winter or the filmmakers shot the scenes in Dublin during the summertime. GEOG: When flying from Boston to Dublin, Anna's flight is diverted to Wales. Unless she had a layover in London, the more likely diversion would be to Shannon Airport in the West of Ireland. After all the flights are canceled, she then takes a boat from Wales to Dingle. Again, unlikely since Dingle is on the west coast of Ireland. While in Dingle, it is shown to be a tiny village, which it is not as small as depicted. Also, several shots are shown on the Cliffs of Moher. Which is North of Shannon, whereas Dingle is south of Shannon. Continuity: During the scene when the cows are blocking the road, the apple that Declan is eating starts out red but is abruptly a gold/pink apple during some cuts. Revealing mistakes: The carrots that Anna picked from the garden were not the same carrots that she was chopping in the kitchen in the next scene. The garden carrots were rather small and thin. The carrots in the kitchen were much larger and thicker. DATE: The "44 year old" bottle of whiskey that the station master pours out is recognizably a disguised modern bottle of Jameson whiskey with a barcode on it. Whiskey bottles didn't have barcodes 44 years ago. GEOG: Despite supposedly being in Dingle, Co. Kerry, the end of the film is quite recognisably the ancient fort of Dun Aongus on the Aran Islands, about 5 hours drive from Dingle. CHAR: One of the old men in the pub says that the last train left Dingle in 1987. The last train from Dingle left in 1953 on the narrow gauge line to Tralee. CHAR: When Anna and Jeremy are at the restaurant, Jeremy says they "might have to go in through the spine." No surgery of any kind ever goes "through the spine," particularly any cardiac surgery. In human anatomy, the common term "spine" actually is the vertebral column. The statement made by Jeremy literally would mean you would split the patient's vertebrae to get to the heart. Continuity: When everything in the room is being destroyed it shows the bottle on the table by the window being smashed on the floor, the next scene shows her looking back and the bottle is back on the table. Continuity: When Declan throws his pillow onto the bed at the Bed and Breakfast, the trim of the pillow case is at the edge of the bed, but when the camera angle changes, the trim of the pillow case is at the center of the bed. Revealing mistakes: In one of the scenes where Matthew tries to take a photo of Amy using Nokia N97, he uses the "end call" button to take the picture whereas he supposed to use the camera shutter button on the side. |

[from trailer] Anna: [as she forces Declan awake] You lying, deceiving, son of a - Get up, get up, get up! Declan: Wha-what? Anna: Oh? Heads you win, tails I lose. Declan: [smirks] Oh, you finally got that did you? Well then, good for you. Anna: Up, get up! This is my bed. Liars forfeit. [as she sniffs him] And take a shower, you smell. Declan: [shakes head] You can see right through the curtain. Anna: Can you?... can you? Declan: [as he runs to the shower] Okay, liars forfeit, liars forfeit! No peeking! Bride: May you never steal, lie, or cheat, but if you must steal, then steal away my sorrows, and if you must lie, lie with me all the nights of my life, and if you must cheat, then please cheat death because I couldn't live a day without you. Cheers! Anna: What are you, the Lucky Charms leprecaun? Declan: Jesus Christ! Anna: ...is Lord. Declan: Just put 'em the wash; they'll be grand. Declan: Mrs. O'Brady Callhan. Where the hell are you going? Anna: You said no. Declan: I didn't say no. I didn't say anything. Anna: You walked away. Declan: I was getting something. Anna: Really? That was a good time to go get something? Declan: Yeah, it was actually. [Presents Anna with a ring] Declan: Mrs. O'Brady Callhan. Where the hell are you going? Anna: You said no. Declan: I didn't say no. I didn't say anything. Anna: You walked away. Declan: I was getting something. Anna: Really? That was a good time to go get something? Declan: Yeah, it was actually. [Presents Anna with a ring] Declan: which one of you bollocks thinks my chicken is dry? You? You? Declan: What the hell are you doing here? Anna: could you maybe be nice for just a second, i just flied 3,000 miles just to get here Anna: You fried my blackberry Declan: You fried the whole village! Anna: When my 60 seconds came around i realized i had everything i ever wanted... but nothing i really needed. and i think what i need is here. and i came all this way to see if you maybe think so too. If you do, well... i don't really have plans past that, which is new for me. So, Declan O'Callhan and i should probably learn your middle name, here is my proposal; i propose we not make plans, i propose we give this thing a chance and let it work out how it works out. so what do you say, do you wanna not make plans with me? Declan: i don't want not to make plans with you. i want to make plans with you. Anna: you do? Declan: yeah i do. |
