Revealing mistakes: As Flint and his ladies are escaping from the island with the building collapsing around them, one of the "boulders" bounces off the head of the last of the ladies. She hardly seems to notice. Continuity: In the opening scenes of the movie, the Galaxy operatives are using a World World II style submarine. Yet at the waterfall scene at the entrance of the Galaxy island, the submarine is a late 50's/early 60's era attack style. Revealing mistakes: During the scenes where Flint's women are being abducted, one is snatched right out of the shower. As she clears the door, her flesh-colored bikini top is visible. Continuity: At the end, when the Flint girls are being unloaded from the barrels, the position of the girls and the barrels that are open changes repeatedly between shots. Continuity: In the nightclub in Marseilles, Gila Golan's right hand is emptying the contents of the "Exotica" cold cream jar into her purse. In the next shot, it is her left hand holding the jar. Continuity: The cameraman photographs Flint while standing at the short end of the coffin. The picture that arrives at Z.O.W.I.E headquarters is taken from the right side. Continuity: Every shot of the "anti-American eagle"soaring shows a different kind of bird, easily noted by the radically different shape of the wings. Fact errors: The latitude and longitude of Galaxy Island that Flint transmits, correspond to a location in the north west Africa, well away from the sea. SYNC: When Hans Gruber attempts to kill Flynt, his pistol has a silencer on it and is quiet. Moments later, when Flynt wishes to empty out the cafe before the bomb goes off, he fires the pistol with the silencer still on, but this time it is loud. Continuity: During the chase scene in the factory on the island, Flint gets on a conveyor to go down a level. There is a white square just behind his head with an emblem on it. When he gets off the conveyor the emblem is missing. Continuity: When Flint dives off the cliff, the cliff face is sheer with little vegetation. He lands in a lagoon, no cliff, but a beach with a lot of vegetation. Continuity: The first time we see a close-up of Flint's wrist watch wake him up, the hand wearing the watch is on top of the other hand's fingers. Before and after shot, his hands are instead crossed by the wrists. Continuity: At the night club when Gruber notices Flint, a few seconds pass from when he sees him until the view changes and we are given to see Flint. However just as that happens, Flint walks into the field of view after obviously having been obscured. How did Gruber see him through the wall? CHAR: For being an extremely well educated man, even to the point of teaching ballet in Moscow, Flint's french is unrealistically poor. Continuity: After using his portable light-torch to cut his way through the trailer's locked safe door, Flint is then found back inside the locked safe door with no signs of it having been cut open. |

Mr. Cramden: Flint, I owe you my life. The medic said four more seconds, and I... Derek Flint: *Three* more seconds. Mr. Cramden: Damn it, man, is there anything you don't know? Derek Flint: A great many things, sir. But, nothing of consequence. Cramden: You traveled all the way to Moscow to watch a ballet? Derek Flint: No, to teach! Cramden: Your code book. Derek Flint: If you don't mind, sir, I prefer to use my own personal code. Cramden: But I would rather you use the government code. Derek Flint: I already know mine. It's a mathematical progression, 40-26-36. It's based on... Cramden: I can imagine what it's based on. Cramden: Flint, the government needs you. Derek Flint: Yes, well, it's good to be wanted, sir. Derek Flint: Say, why does that eagle attack me? Galaxy worker: He's been trained to recognize and attack Americans. Derek Flint: An anti-American eagle. It's diabolical. Mr. Cramden: Flint, the world's in trouble! Derek Flint: Well, it usually is, but it manages to extricate itself without my help. Derek Flint: Hans Gruber, Hitler youth movement, escaped during the Nuremberg Trials. Gruber: I'm a much nicer person now... Derek Flint: Repeat after me: I am not a pleasure unit. Gila: Where are you going? Derek Flint: I'm going to put Galaxy into orbit. Cramden: Flint? Naval Officer: It can't be! Cramden: Of course it can, that's why he's Flint! Dr. Wu: Ours would be a perfect world! Why? Derek Flint: Because it's your idea of perfection, gentlemen - not mine! Derek Flint: I don't need any men. Cramden: You said you were joining the team. Derek Flint: But the team's not joining me. [Flint is "preparing" for his assignment] Leslie: It worries me so when he stops his heart this way. It's over three hours, isn't it? Anna: Yes. But it does relax him. Leslie: Must be a dangerous assignment. Gila: Mr. Flint will cause no more trouble. I have just received the information I requested. Dr. Schneider: You mean the impregnable Mr Flint does have one weakness? Gila: No Dr. Schneider! Four! Derek Flint: 35-14-82, 76-14-29, 72-42-41... Cab Driver: [speaking Italian] Lottery, Eh? You have a system? Derek Flint: [speaking Italian] Yes... Infallible! It is a mathematical progression of... 40... 23... 38... It is based on... Cab Driver: [speaking Italian] I can imagine what it's based on. Derek Flint: [fingering the coat-of-arms on Rodney's blazer] I wonder what it is that always makes the Rodneys choose the wrong side. Cramden: [referring to Flint] He was the best - undisciplined but the best. Derek Flint: [showing off his gadget disguised as a cigarette lighter] This has 82 different functions - 83 if you want to light a cigar. Dr. Wu: How often woman's animal nature triumphs! Dr. Krupov: You must learn patience. Malcolm Rodney: Gentlemen, forgive me. You are scientists. As such, you're accustomed to failure. It merely increases your desire for success, but in my business failure is inexcusable. We've treated him too lightly. He's too dangerous to live! [after Flint guns down Z.O.W.I.E. guards and Cramden wants to have him arrested] Derek Flint: I noticed that these men were wearing Battle of the Bulge ribbons. Mr. Cramden: There is no ribbon for the Battle of the Bulge. Derek Flint: Exactly. |
