| Plot: | It's the 21st century, but the gods of Mount Olympus and assorted monsters have walked out of the pages of high school student Percy Jackson's Greek mythology texts and into his life. And they're not happy: Zeus' lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect. Even more troubling is the sudden disappearance of Percy's mother. As Percy finds himself caught between angry and battling gods, he and his friends embark on a cross-country adventure to catch the true lightning thief, save Percy's mom, and unravel a mystery more powerful than the gods themselves. |

Revealing mistakes: When Percy, Annabeth and Grover come to Luke to ask for help he is playing Call of Duty with a Playstation 3 controller while on screen Xbox 360 buttons are seen. Revealing mistakes: In the scene in Auntie Em's. Where Annabeth first runs into Medusa, she is wearing a turban. According to lore, Medusa has a head full of snakes, rather than hair. In that scene there is a small piece of blonde hair visible peeking out of the right side of the turban. Uma Thurman has blonde hair. Continuity: After Percy enters the Lotus Casino in Vegas, the designs on his blue shirt are suddenly gone. Continuity: Pigeons outside the window of Percy's house disappear and reappear between shots. Revealing mistakes: In the final shot, the leaves on the small trees in front are noticeably being blown by the wind, but the leaves on the taller trees in back are perfectly still. Continuity: At Auntie Em's Emporium her lip color changes between scenes from red to purple. FAIR: The ancient Grecian Perseus was the son of Zeus, not Poseidon. However, Percy here isn't supposed to be the Perseus from original mythology; he was given his name in honor of Perseus. It is revealed in the books and deleted scenes from this movie that Percy's mother had named him after the original Perseus because he was the only demigod to have a happy ending (instead of a tragic death) in hopes that Percy would also have a happy ending. Miscellaneous: In the beginning when Poseidon and Zeus are speaking, Zeus states that the bolt must be returned by the summer solstice. With the solstice "fourteen days away" it must be June 7. This establishes the current season: summer. When Annabeth, Grover, and Percy are in the Underworld, they are greeted by Persephone; however according to Greek myths, Persephone remains in the underworld only during winter, so her presence is incorrect. (However, in the sequel books, Persephone stays in the Underworld during summer in order to avoid the war of the gods above ground. It is therefore possible that Persephone stay in the Underworld during spring/summer. Since, in the movie, Hades is trying to do battle with his brothers, he might have kept her in the Underworld to likewise keep her out of the war.) Revealing mistakes: Both Percy and Annabeth are teenagers and in a real Las Vegas casino would not have been allowed to roam unaccompanied in the gaming area without someone over the age of 21. Continuity: In one scene, when Percy is new to the camp, he & Chiron are talking alone by the lake. When the camera is on Chiron, Chiron's arms are folded. But, when the camera switches to Percy, Chiron's arms are suddenly down. Continuity: In the Capture the Flag scene, a warrior of the red team shears off the blue horsehair plume on Percy's helmet with his sword. However, in all of the following scenes the plume is complete again. Revealing mistakes: The statue of Athena in the Parthenon in Nashville is not the actual statue. The real statue is gold plated, has a different headpiece and is holding Nike not a spear. |

You have to do that right here? That's disgusting. We're in a kitchen. [last lines] Annabeth Chase: [leaning in as if to kiss Percy, then swiping his sword] First rule of battle strategy. Don't ever let your opponent distract you. Grover: [holding up the Medusa head] Guys, I cannot pee with her watching! [the passing maid sees the head, screams, and runs off] Annabeth Chase: We better leave before Homeland Security shows up. Grover: [Seeing the daughters of Aphrodite in the hot tub, and turning to Percy] Daughters of Aphrodite... You know what that means man! Medusa: Come on. Sneak a peek. Hades: [yelling] Persephone! What could possibly be taking so long? Don't ignore me! Persephone: [yells back] Or what? What will you do? [quietly] I'm already in Hell. Poseidon: Zeus Zeus: Poseidon Poseidon: It's been many years Zeus: What do you see? Poseidon: Thunder clouds Zeus: With no lightning. Stolen Mrs. Dodds: You stole the lightning bolt! Percy Jackson: I don't know what your talking about! Mrs. Dodds: Give to me, now, or I will bite your heart out! Percy Jackson: Oh I wish I could spend all day in the water instead of this place Grover: Oh like High School without the musical Zeus: If you didn't steal it, then who did? Percy Jackson: Luke! Son of Hermes. Medusa: [When she meets Annabeth & the Hysterical Woman] Well THIS is a fabulous surprise! Grover: And he's alive! Percy Jackson is a beast! You're a beast, man! Gimme some! Percy Jackson: How long was that? Grover: Seven minutes. Percy Jackson: Seven minutes? Grover: Uh-huh. That's crazy, man, that's ridiculous. How do you do it? Percy Jackson: I just like being in water. It's the one place I can think. Zeus: If you didn't steal it, then who did? Percy Jackson: Luke! Son of Hermes. Persephone: What else can you do to me, I'm already in HELL! Percy Jackson: What's her name? [pointing at Annabeth] Grover: [laughs] She will squash you like a bug. Percy Jackson: Her *name*. Grover: Annabeth. Daughter of Athena, the goddess of wisdom. Medusa: We get so lonely here. That's why I created my statues. They're my only company. Medusa: [to Annabeth] Daughter of Athena. Annabeth Chase: How do you know me? Medusa: You have such a beautiful hair. I used to have like that one before. I was courted, desired by many. But that all changed, because of your mother-who cursed me, who turned me into... [removing her hair cover] Annabeth Chase: Don't look! Medusa: This. [snakes hissing] Medusa: They say the eyes are windows to the soul. I hope you find my eyes... [removing her glasses] Medusa: Attractive... So rude not looking people in the eyes. Come on, sneak a peak. Percy Jackson: Oh, no way [laughing] Percy Jackson: We won. Annabeth Chase: Do you really think you could get that easily? My mother is the goddess of wisdom. Do you know what that means? I always win. Percy Jackson: Well, I always lose. Maybe we're both wrong. Annabeth Chase: Hyah! Chiron: Keep moving! Keep moving! Don't lose interest! One foot in front of the other and the next thing you know, you're running! Percy Jackson: Let's stop for the night! Grover: Yeah. Percy Jackson: Let's stop for the night! Grover: Yeah. Percy Jackson: Don't the Gods see their kids? Ferryman: Welcome to the underworld. Percy Jackson: [Upon seeing objects floating by him] What is all this? Ferryman: Scrap heap of human misery. Lost hopes and dreams. Wishes that never came true. |
