Revealing mistakes: In one shot, a SWAT officer can be seen holding a Colt Model 933 carbine fitted with an EOTech red dot sight, the sight being mounted backwards on the weapon. Continuity: When Salt walks into the holding room to interrogate Orlov, she places a black plastic ashtray containing a pack of cigarettes on the corner of the table. It stays there throughout several following scenes, but has vanished when she's in the room alone. Continuity: When Evelyn is climbing on the outside of the building, in some shots her dog's head is visible sticking out of her backpack. In other shots the backpack is zipped up tight. GEOG: In one of the Washington DC scenes, Salt is seen entering the Archives/Navy Memorial Metro station, and emerging from the L'Enfant Plaza station, without ever boarding a train. Continuity: When Evelyn first goes on the run, she enters a stairwell, takes off her shoes and tosses them in the corner. The next shot shows the security camera's view. The shoes are in a different position. Revealing mistakes: While the CIA raids Evelyn Salt's Apartment, they throw a flash grenade into the home, every single window on the exterior shatters but none of the mirrors or household appliances get damaged. Continuity: The movie is supposed to take place during the winter time as evidenced by the fact that there were no leaves on any of the trees during the scenes in D.C. and NYC. However, during the first chase seen on the overpass which took place in D.C. there were leaves on all the trees. This is because that seen was actually filmed in Albany, NY later on during the spring. Continuity: When Salt is locked in the CIA building she takes a chair and throws it on the floor, in the next scene the chair is gone (at the security camera's and the normal camera). Continuity: Despite all her climbing and sliding down the elevator shaft, Salt manages to escape with her white shirt completely clean. Continuity: Outside the Vice President's funeral, the CIA lapel pin on Ted Winter's coat changed orientation between shots. Continuity: The ring that Orlov wears changes fingers. When he is on the helicopter with the baby it's on the third finger. When the children kiss it it's on the second finger. At the junkyard it's back on the third finger. Continuity: In the scene when Salt is surrounded by the agents on a bridge, she jumps off the bridge on a blue truck. In the next shot she is on a silver truck. Continuity: When Salt is taken into custody after the White House sequence, her hands are cuffed behind her, as evidenced in the way she deals with Ted Winter. Seemingly a few moments later, as she is being loaded onto the helicopter, her hands are now cuffed in front. Continuity: When Salt escapes from the NYPD police van by crashing it on top of the yellow NYC cabs, she lifts a gray fur hat from a side stall without breaking stride. The scene immediately cuts to a ferry where she is seen wearing the same hat with a matching fur coat/overall. The possibility that such an overall could be placed on the kind of side stall depicted, or that she could have lifted one that was so striking similar to the hat from somewhere else are pretty slim. Continuity: When Salt returns home looking for her husband, she sees a sandwich with two bites taken out of it. In the next scene during the raid by the CIA, a half-eaten sandwich is seen. CHAR: Some scenes are spoken completely in Russian, in one of them Orlov is spelling the tail-number of an airplane: N182SL. The pronunciation of the letters isn't Russian, it's clearly German. SYNC: When Salt is hijacking a bike in the traffic jam, she got a Triumph Street Triple R. This bike a very specific engine (3 cylinders) and has therefore a very specific sound but on the soundtrack you hear the sound of a plain motorcycle. Continuity: After the explosion at the funeral Salt is left covered in dust, yet as soon as she is seen in custody in a NYPD police van she is in pristine condition. DATE: The helicopter in the movie bringing the "Soviet master spy" to the abandoned monastery now serving as a training camp for the KA-spies has a Russian aircraft registration (RA-... or RF-... for govt-aircraft). In those days, the helicopter would have had a Soviet registration (CCCP-...). Fact errors: When Salt steals a motorcycle to use in her escape, she does so by reaching out and grabbing the brake as the motorcyclist drives by her. This causes the bike to stop and the rider to fly off the bike. The problem is that she grabbed the left hand lever which in reality is the clutch, not the brake. Without grabbing the brake the bike would have pulled out of her hand and continued past her or if she turned the bike it would have crashed into the car at full speed. |
Quotes
|
Evelyn Salt: What is your name? Vassily Orlov: My name is Vassily Orlov. Today, a Russian agent will travel to New York city to kill the President. This agent is KA-12. Evelyn Salt: The KA program is a myth. Vassily Orlov: Don't you want to know the name? Evelyn Salt: You're good. You can tell the rest of your story to one of my colleagues. Vassily Orlov: Salt. Evelyn Salt: Yes? Vassily Orlov: The name of the agent is Evelyn Salt. Evelyn Salt: My name is Evelyn Salt. Vassily Orlov: Then you are a Russian spy. Evelyn Salt: I'm not a goddamn Russian spy. |
