| Plot: | Five years ago... Escaped convict Richard B. Riddick escaped from a desert planet with his two companions, religious man Imam and runaway teenage girl Jack. After five years wandering across the outskirts of the galaxy and being hunted by bounty hunters calming the bounty on his head, Riddick arrives on the colonized planet New Mecca, he learns Imam placed the bounty on his head and Jack has been imprisoned on the prison planet "Crematoria" for murder. Riddick learns from Aereon, ambassador of the Elemental race is seeking out Furians, a race of warriors in a bid to balance the universe, as a warrior army known as The Necromongers led by the evil undead Lord Marshal are invading every planet in the galaxy and cleansing all of humanity in their goal for universal conquest. Beliving Riddick is a Furian warrior, Aereon decides to hire Riddick believing he is the one man who can stop The Lord Marshal and the Necromongers. When the Necromongers attacks New Mecca, Riddick is captured by cocky bounty hunter Toombs and his crew and he is transported to Crematoria, where he reunites with Jack now named 'Kyra', where Riddick and Kyra escapes to the planet's sun ravaged surface, where Riddick helped by Necromonger warrior Vakko and his sexy wife Dame Vakko, sets out to defeat the Lord Marshal and save the universe from the Lord Marshal's rule and save the rest of humanity from being converted into Nercomonger warriors. |

Goofs
|
Crew: The green screen used to create the mountains and deadly sunrise on Crematoria is reflected in Riddick's goggles. Continuity: When the merc ship is coming in to land on Crematoria, the pilot's goggles are on/off between shots. SYNC: While Running through the Canyons of Crematoria the second time Kyra yells, "Riddick," her lips don't move Crew: When the Holy Man is cornered by the necromonger before attacking each other, the reflection of the lights on the set can be seen in his glasses. Revealing mistakes: When Riddick climes the rope on Crematoria, Toombs is hanging on the same rope, but when Riddick reaches the top, it's obvious that there's no weight on the rope below Riddick. Continuity: When Kyra removes the cup that Riddick used to kill a guard on Crematoria, the cup has a badly broken and jagged rim and its handle is attached about an inch below the rim. In the next shot where the cup is completely visible, the cup's rim is less broken and jagged and its handle is attached at least two inches below the rim. The cup she places on the rock appears the same as it did when she first picked it up. Crew: During the scene just before Riddick tames the Hellhound on Crematoria, he wakes suddenly on a narrow ledge. Over his right shoulder you can see a safety wire. Crew: When Imam is talking to Riddick about him leaving Jack, the reflection of the Camera lights is visible on his glasses. Continuity: When the criminals are running through the clouds of falling ash, they get it all over their clothes and their hair, then an instant later, all the ashes are gone. Revealing mistakes: When Riddick is crouched on a perch looking up at the Necromongers entering the atmosphere of Helion Prime, the digital addition of the 'shine' of his eyes doesn't match up with his eye and head movement. Continuity: When Imam is checking if the way is clear for his wife and daughter, directly after the initial Necromonger landing, the debris on the ground around him moves from one shot to the next. FAIR: After Riddick is left on Crematoria by the Necromongers he takes shelter in a garage. Because the planet is quite obviously devoid of any humidity at all, the thin atmosphere does not transmit heat. Therefore, all shade on the planet, including the "night side" (the half of the planet that is in its own shadow) is much cooler. A similar effect can be seen in desert areas of Earth. Ironically, the extremes mentioned mean that the garage actually would require heating of its own to keep the occupants alive. Revealing mistakes: SPOILER: After the Necromongers leave Riddick to, he talks to the purifier. The purifier then walks out into the sunlight and his entire body bursts into fire and dissolves. But if you look at the bottom right of the screen, you can clearly see a skull and some other bones of those who died in the fight. Continuity: In the scene on Crematoria where Riddick is going to kill the guy with his "Tea" cup, he is obviously drinking something out of the cup. The final sip does not show him consuming the entire contents, but when he turns it upside down, not even a drop is left. |
Quotes
|
Vaako: First and always, I am a Necromonger commander. So if you're here to test my loyalty, you succeed only in testing my patience. Lord Marshal: Been a long time since I've seen my own blood. Richard B. Riddick: Its been a long time since I smelled beautiful. Dame Vaako: Let me show you the way. Richard B. Riddick: Remember that favorite game of yours? Kyra: "Who's the Better Killer?" Richard B. Riddick: Let's play. Richard B. Riddick: You made three mistakes. First, you took the job. Second, you came light. A four man crew for me? Fucking insulting. But the worst mistake you made... [Toombs darts for the gun rack which he finds to be empty while Riddick smiles] Richard B. Riddick: ...empty gun rack. Imam: Have you heard anything I've said? Richard B. Riddick: You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right? Imam: That's right. Richard B. Riddick: Had to end sometime. Kyra: Death by tea cup [pulls cup out of dead guards chest] Kyra: Damn. Why didn't I think of that? [to Riddick] Lord Marshal: Convert now... or fall forever. Slam Guard: You'll kill us... with a soup cup? Richard B. Riddick: Tea, actually. Slam Guard: What's that? Richard B. Riddick: I'll kill you with my teacup. [last lines] [director's cut] Richard B. Riddick: You keep what you kill. Purifier: [to Riddick] I was supposed to deliver a message to you... if the Vaako failed to kill you. A message from the Lord Marshal himself. He tells you to stay away from Helion, stay away from him, and in return, you'll be hunted no more. But Vaako will most likely report you as dead. So this is your chance. Your chance to do what no man has ever done. Aereon: [to Riddick] There are very few of us who have met a Necromonger and lived to speak of it. So when I choose to speak of it, you should choose to listen. Vaako: This is your one chance. Take the Lord Marshals' offer and bow. Richard B. Riddick: I bow to no man. Vaako: [take off his helmet] He is not a man. He's the holy Half-Dead who has seen the UnderVerse. Richard B. Riddick: Look, I'm not with everyone here. But I will take a piece of him. [points to Irgun] Vaako: A piece you will have. Aereon: Furyans. Defiant to the end. Richard B. Riddick: [in cryosleep] Merceneries. Elementals. Necromongers. Shit, I've never been so popular. I should probaly slip these chains and open up a few arteries. But why drive when you can get driven? Free ticket to Crematoria. Thanks Toombs. Got me some business there, named Jack. And once we settle up, I walk away forever. So I'll just wait... all back-of-the-bus for now. Purifier: We all began as something else. Richard B. Riddick: [to Aereon] The blade comes off when the bounty comes off. Dame Vaako: [about the Necropolis] The first six Lord Marshals have called this home. Magnificent, isn't it? Richard B. Riddick: I might have gone a different way. Purifier: True of us all. Richard B. Riddick: [to Imam] Now who do I have to kill to get this payday off my head? Ziza: [to Riddick] Did you really kill monsters? The ones that were gonna hurt my father? Imam: Such are our bedtime stories. Richard B. Riddick: Not my fight. Richard B. Riddick: [to Aereon] Sister, they don't know what to do with just one of me. Imam: Lajjun and Ziza! Richard B. Riddick: When it's over. Imam: Let me go! I must get to my family! Richard B. Riddick: When it's over! [director's cut] Purifier: In this verse, life is antagonistic to the natural state. Here humans in all their various races are a spontaneous outbreak. An unguided mistake. Our purpose is to correct that mistake... because there is another verse. A verse where life is welcomed and cherished. A ravishing ever-new place called Underverse... but the road to that verse crosses over the threshold. The Guv: There are inmates and there are convicts. A convict has a certain code. And he knows to show a certain respect. An inmate, on the other hand, pulls the pin on his fellow man. Does the guards' work for them... brings shame... to the game. So, which are you gonna be? Richard B. Riddick: Me? I'm just passin' through. Richard B. Riddick: Don't bother. Guards ain't there. They figured out the Necros are comin' for me. Plan was to clean the bank, ghost the mercs, break wide for the tunnel. And then somebody got a lucky shot off with this rocket launcher here... and took out the sled. Guards took off on foot but rigged the door so no one could follow. They'll take the one ship in the hangar and leave everyone else to die. Toombs: How come you know all this shit? You weren't even here. Richard B. Riddick: Cause it was my plan. Richard B. Riddick: It's an animal thing. Purifier: I've done... unbelievable things... in the name of a faith that was never my own. And he'll do to her what he did to me. Purifier: The Necromonger in me warns you not to go back. [pause] But the Furyan in me... hopes you won't listen. [shows blade to Riddick then drops it] God knows... I've dreamed of it. Richard B. Riddick: What was that? You don't care if you live or die? Kyra: If I kill them first, not really. Richard B. Riddick: [quietly] Maybe I do. [shouts] Keep moving! Richard B. Riddick: [a guard has Kyra in a choke-hold] I don't think she likes being touched. I'd take my wounded and go... while you still can. Kyra: Shit! I hate not being the bad guys! Dame Vaako: Never fails to inspire does it? Each time a dynasty falls. Vaako: Remember your place Dame Vaako. Dame Vaako: My place is at your side dear husband. From here till underverse come. [referring to a Necromonger Riddick has just killed rather easily in hand-to-hand combat] Lord Marshal: Irgun. One of my best. Richard B. Riddick: If you say so. Toombs: [Talking about Crematoria] If I owned this place and Hell, I'd rent this place out and live in Hell. Vaako: Obedience without question. Loyalty until Underverse come. [first lines] Aereon: They are an army unlike any other... crusading across the stars toward a place called UnderVerse, their promised land - a constellation of dark new worlds. Necromongers, they're called. And if they cannot convert you, they will kill you. Leading them, the Lord Marshal. He alone has made a pilgrimage to the gates of the UnderVerse... and returned a different being. Stronger. Stranger. Half alive and half... something else. If we are to survive, a new balance must be found. In normal times, evil would be fought by good. But in times like these, well, it should be fought by another kind of evil. Lord Marshal: What do you think of this blade? [Riddick grabs it, spins it around over and under his hand; catches it blade facing him and offers it back to the Lord Marshal] Richard B. Riddick: I think it's a half-gram heavy on the back end. Richard B. Riddick: Kyra. [No response] Richard B. Riddick: [Louder] Kyra! Kyra: [Screams] What? Richard B. Riddick: Get that ASS MOVING! Richard B. Riddick: Are you with me, Kyra? Kyra: I was always with you. I was. Richard B. Riddick: Lesson Learned. No such word as "friend". Richard B. Riddick: There's gonna be one speed... mine. If you can't keep up, don't step up. You'll just die. Purifier: I've done... unbelievable things... in the name of a faith that was never my own. Shirah: There is no future until we settle our past. Toombs: You know, you supposed to be some slick-shit killer. Now look at you... all back-of-the-bus and shit. Dame Vaako: The more you resist them... the greater the damage will be. Toombs: I shoulda taken the money. Richard B. Riddick: You're not afraid of the dark, are you? Richard B. Riddick: [to Eve Logan] [director's cut] Did you know you grind your teeth at night? Sexy. Richard B. Riddick: [director's cut] They say most of your brain shuts down in cryosleep. Shirah: ...Brain shuts down in cryosleep... Richard B. Riddick: All but the primitive side. Shirah: All but the primitive side. Richard B. Riddick: The animal side. Shirah: All but the Furyan side. Shirah: Some of us still remember the true crime that happened here on Furya. And once you wake - truly wake - you'll remember too. Imam: [to Irgun] There will be an afterlife for me. Will there be for you? Eve Logan: [about Toombs] What the hell is he thinkin' now? Richard B. Riddick: He's thinkin' of a triple-max prison. A no-daylight slam. Only three of 'em left in this system, two of 'em outta range for a shitty little undercutter like this one with no legs. Leavin' just one - crematoria. That is what you had in mind. Right Toombs? Richard B. Riddick: [to Toombs] Don't know about this new crew of yours. They seem a bit skittish. Probably shouldn't tell 'em what happened to the last crew. Dame Vaako: I've always wondered, can an air Elemental fly? Now do me a favor. Calculate the odds of you getting off this planet alive... and now cut them in half. Aereon: No, we can't fly. But we do glide very well. Purifier: It was hard for me to accept too, the first time I heard these words... But I changed. I let them take away my pain. Just was you will change when you realize the threshold to the Underverse will be crossed only by those who have embraced the Necromonger faith, by those of you who will right now, drop to your knees, and ask, to be purified. [after ripping out a man's soul] Lord Marshal: Join him, or join me. Kyra: How do I get eyes like that? Richard B. Riddick: You gotta kill a few people. Kyra: Did that. Did a lot of that. Richard B. Riddick: Then you gotta get sent to a slam. Kyra: One where they tell you you'll never see daylight again. Only there wasn't a doctor here who could shine my eyes, not even for 20 menthol Kools. Was there anything you said that was true? [From Toombs' chase log] Toombs: Two days out. Con in the back is named Speedo. Don't know where he got that, he looks pretty fuckin' slow at the moment. Toombs: Shut up back there! |
