| Plot: | It's 1946 and Jack and Evie are now retired. They did a bit of espionage during World War II but have decided it's now the easy life for them. The only problem is that they are now quite bored so they jump at the chance to deliver a precious gem which the UK government is returning to China. Evie's brother Jonathan is now running a nightclub in Shanghai and they are surprised to also find their son Alex who is supposed to be at university but has on an archaeological dig with an old friend, Professor Roger Wilson. They soon find themselves involved in intrigue as a corrupt Chinese General needs the gem to resurrect Emperor Han and his army who have been dead for thousands of years. |

Revealing mistakes: In the Himalayas, a shot of a running soldier's foot clearly shows sand, not snow. Continuity: Just before the battle at the temple bridge, Rick has a Thompson Sub-Machine Gun loaded with a 50-round drum. When the battle begins, the Thompson has a 30-round stick magazine. DATE: During the 1947 Chinese New Year celebrations, a black Dodge four-door sedan has hubcaps from the late 1970s. DATE: The drum set in the nightclub is not from the 1930s. Some of the hardware (ex. cymbal stands) was not available until the 1980s. DATE: The dancing girls in the nightclub have plastic straps on their bras. Fact errors: In ancient China, oracle bones were turtle shells that were heated during divination, the cracks that appeared across Chinese characters written on the shells were then interpreted to foretell the future. CHAR: On the mountain, Rick says he had more experience with mummies. Alex says that he only killed one. Rick says he killed 2. Alex then says it was the same mummy twice. Both are wrong. First, Rick killed many mummies in the previous movies--Imhotep and many of his priests. Second, Rick only killed Imhotep The Mummy (1999), the underworld spirits killed Imhotep in The Mummy Returns (2001). Continuity: When Evelyn discovers the bullet in the trout, she pulls it out of her mouth. In the next shot of the left side of her face, she pulls the bullet out again. Fact errors: The bullet Evelyn pulls from her mouth is compressed, as though it had struck a solid object. A close-range shot would have passed straight through a trout. Continuity: In the museum scene, Choi grabs Evie and wraps her arm around Evie's neck. Evie gets away. In the next shot, Choi's arm is around Evie's neck again. DATE: A tan 1949 Austin passes in front of a bookstore in 1947. Continuity: When Alex and Lin are under the Emperor's wagon during the chase, Alex turns himself around, and is dragged in the street for a fair distance while Lin tries to reach him to pull him up. When she succeeds, the back of Alex's shirt is shredded, and a protective pad is visible through the tears. In the next shot, his shirt is intact. DATE: At the beginning of the movie, the Dragon Emperor is shown planning his campaign on a model of China which has the Great Wall portrayed on it, even though the Dragon Emperor himself built the wall AFTER the campaign. FAIR: When the Emperor is first turned to stone, both arms are raised up and he is slightly hunched down. When he is unearthed, he is encased in a different Terra Cota warrior who is standing straight, one hand straight out, grasping the chariot's reins. However, when he breaks out, his hands are shown straight up and it is clear he is trapped inside another statue in his original position. CHAR: The Terracotta Army are called "mummies" throughout. Yet not one character in this movie goes through the mummification process. The only mummy we see is the fake Emperor that Lin stabs. Continuity: In the beginning of the movie, General Ming was ripped to pieces after having been chained by both arms and legs. He would have had to have lost a minimum of three limbs in the process, rather than just the one arm. PLOT: The book of spells that was used to curse the emperor was written ages before the emperor was alive, however, it had a spell in it to raise the soldiers that the emperor killed. CHAR: The orchestral chimes behind the drummer are turned around backwards, facing the curtain behind the band. Revealing mistakes: Evelyn Carnehan-O'Connell is supposed to be as British as John Bull, but in many scenes her voice sounds like an American actress attempting, with some difficulty, to affect a British accent. |

[from trailer] [stopping a car before throwing the man out] Rick O'Connell: Whoa whoa whoa. Sorry pal, there's a mummy on the loose. [from trailer] [upon seeing an army of the undead] Rick O'Connell: So these are the good undead guys, right? [from trailer] Jonathan Carnahan: I hate mummies. They never play fair. [from trailer] Alex O'Connell: Good going dad. You've raised another mummy. In his tomb, it said he had control of the five elements. [from trailer] Zijuan: [about Han] When the emperor built the great wall, he buried his enemies underneath it. I will call them to battle once more. Mad Dog Maguire: I'd tell you to fasten your seatbelts, but I was too cheap to buy any. [laughs] Rick O'Connell: [laughs] Why am I laughing? [from trailer] Jonathan Carnahan: [to Rick] You guys are like mummy magnets! Rick O'Connell: Here we go again! Evelyn O'Connell: [speaking of Rick fishing] At least you've got a hobby that doesn't involve guns. [takes a bite of the fish] Mad Dog Maguire: [seeing a dragon flying below them] Rick, should I give up drinking? Rick O'Connell: No. Rick O'Connell: I. Really. Hate. Mummies. Evelyn O'Connell: I think the feeling is mutual. Jonathan Carnahan: Ah! My ass is on fire! My ass is on fire! Spank my ass. Spank my ass! Evelyn O'Connell: What is that god awful smell? Jonathan Carnahan: [covered in puke] The Yak yakked. Jonathan Carnahan: You three-headed shape-shifting son-of-a-bitch. Jonathan Carnahan: Die you mummy bastards. Die. Mad Dog Maguire: There is no call for bad language. Rick O'Connell: I've put down more mummies in my time. Alex O'Connell: [scoffs] *One* mummy. Rick O'Connell: Same mummy. *Twice*! Jonathan Carnahan: [during a chase scene] Where's Rick?! Evelyn O'Connell: Where do you think?! Jonathan Carnahan: [about Lin] She speaks Yeti?! Woman in Bookstore: [This dialog - in an apparent nod and wink to the change of actress for the character from prior films in "The Mummy" series - accompanies the first appearance of Evelyn O'Connell] Mrs. O'Connell, is it true that the Scarlet O' Kiefe character is based on you? Evelyn O'Connell: No. I can honestly say she is a completely different person. [... as the camera reveals her face to show that it is Maria Bello - not Rachel Weisz - playing the role] Alex O'Connell: When I saw you lying there Dad, I've never been so scared in my life. Rick O'Connell: That makes two of us. Alex O'Connell: You're not supposed to die. I mean you're Richard O'Connell, right? You get beat up, you get tossed around, but you're always standing there in the end. I never really thought of the world with out you. Mad Dog Maguire: When this is over, me and my boys get free drinks! Jonathan Carnahan: You can have the whole damn bar! I'm getting the hell out of China! Lin: I'll go after the Emperor. Alex O'Connell: Trust me, I've got a little more experience with mummies. Lin: [Pulling out a dagger] And I have the only weapon that can kill him! Alex O'Connell: Okay, I'll cover you! Let's go! Jonathan Carnahan: Here's to you, princess! And Imhotep. May the bugger actually stay dead! Jonathan Carnahan: [Trying to get Alex away from Mad Dog's girl] Alex, that woman is a tomb in which many pharaohs have laid in. |
