Plot: The clumsy and reckless Jack Fuller is fired by his boss and father and together with his friend and unsuccessful lawyer Hater, they decide to go to Las Vegas to have a good time. Meanwhile the fiancé of the workaholic stock broker Joy McNally breaks up their engagement because of her lack of attitude. Her friend and bartender Tipper convinces Joy to spend a couple of days also in Las Vegas. Due to a hotel management mistake, they are lodged in the same room and later they hang around together. During the night, they get completely wasted and on the next morning, Jack and Joy find that they got married. While discussing to briefly end their wedding, Jack borrows a coin from Joy to gamble in the jackpot machine and wins three million dollars. They question in court the ownership of the money and the conservative Judge R. D. Whopper freezes the money and sentence them to live together with Joy moving to Jack's house for six months and attending regular counseling sessions. Each one decides to make the life of the other hell on Earth to force to get out of the marriage.

Goofs

SYNC: At the retreat you can clearly see the drummer not making contact with the snare drum. His brush is in mid-air.
Continuity: At the retreat, when Joy slaps the "Hello my name is Joy's Bitch" sticker on Chong's back, you can see it shift places and angles from shot to shot.
Continuity: The male stripper takes his shirt off twice.
Continuity: The position of Joy's hair changes when she quits her job.
Continuity: In the scene where Jack and Joy first tell each other why they're in Vegas, the ice in Joy's drink refills and empties depending on the camera angle.
Continuity: The slot machine the progressive jackpot is won on shows that 2 coins are needed to win the jackpot. Jack deposited only 1 coin.
Fact errors: Joy throws dice that are opaque. Opaque dice are never used in casinos.
Continuity: When Joy goes to work the day after moving in with Jack she is wearing a blue dress. When her boss tells her one of the ladies will be promoted she is wearing the gray dress she had on in the opening scene. when she returns home she is in the blue dress again.
Continuity: SPOILER: At the end of the movie when the main characters are on the beach, the height of the sun and the time of day changes drastically.
Continuity: When Jack and Hater try to see who finishes the beer first Hater's is gone and Jack has a little left. When they show Jack's glass again it is almost full.
Continuity: Joy leaves for work with her smoothie, but the smoothie is gone when she gets onto the sidewalk after climbing the subway stairs exit.
Continuity: The scene where Joy is bombarded with files on her desk before the scene where Jack is punched, appears again when she is talking to her boss about the birthday party she went to, with her wearing the same outfit.
GEOG: SPOILER: At the end of the movie, Jack is seen crossing the Robert Moses Causeway and Captree Bridges from Long Island to Fire Island, but in the next scene it shows him crossing the ferry from the mainland to Fire Island.
Fact errors: To win the Progressive Jackpot on that particular slot machine would have required putting two quarters in, not one.
Continuity: When Joy is disinfecting Jack's bed, the bedding is solid blue. When we last cut to her, the top sheet is red striped.
Continuity: The logos on the basketball Jack holds move around as his father confronts him at the shop.
Revealing mistakes: When Joy shows the marriage counselor a video of Jack and his two friends fighting outside her apartment with her cell phone, you can clearly hear their voices, but in reality there was no way to record their voices from her window.
Continuity: When Joy and Tipper arrive to the hotel room, they laid on the bed and unmade it. When Jack and Hater arrive, the bed is made.
Continuity: In one scene, Jack is wearing a gray t-shirt. When the camera is in front of him, his sleeve is rolled up, when the camera is behind him, his sleeve is rolled down.
Continuity: When they are playing the slot machine talking, it actually would have paid a small amount with the jackpot symbol-jackpot symbol-seven before they actually put the borrowed quarter in and hit the jackpot.
Continuity: After Jack's father makes the last shot to win their basketball match, the ball can be seen swishing through the hoop and bounce a couple of times, on the next wide angle shot showing his father walking away, the basketball is no where to be seen.
CHAR: SPOILER: Hater tells Jack that a Las Vegas marriage can only be annulled or dissolved in the state in which the parties reside. As evidenced by the fact that Louisiana resident Britney Spears's first marriage was annulled in Las Vegas, where it took place, Hater is wrong.
Revealing mistakes: The initial shot of the Las Vegas "strip" shown just after both sets of characters leave New York was printed optically reversed; the casinos are on the wrong sides of Las Vegas Boulevard S and the signs for Bellagio and MGM Grand and the on-building sign for Monte Carlo can all clearly be seen to be mirror-images.
FAIR: SPOILER: Joy is so wasted, she doesn't realized what happened until the morning after, yet later berates Jack for buying her wedding ring out of a vending machine. However, the if the ring was plastic or fake is was probably very obvious that it was bought from a vending machine, or she used the term in mockery, which isn't uncommon.
Continuity: In the scene where Joy and Jack race to the counselor's office, Joy's hair clearly changes from just a hot mess to a hot mess looking afro.
Continuity: In the scene where Joy and Jack are taking Sammy to the changing rooms, you see Joy and Sammy go into it. Then in the next scene where Joy runs into Mason. Sammy is exactly the same as she was before she went into the changing rooms.
Fact errors: When Jack rolls a 7 at the craps table during the retreat, the dealer pays off a number of field bets. A 7 is a losing roll on a field bet.

Quotes

Mason: [after being punched in the nuts] Why?
Tipper: You know why!
[after Joy is dumped by her fiancé]
Tipper: You know what? I can get a couple of my brother's loser ass
friends to go over to Mason's apartment , knock on the door and
when he opens it wham! They'll junk-punch him all up in his man
business and he'll fall to the floor whaling and crying "why?" and
then we'll say "you know why!"
Joy McNally: Wow! Did you just make that up?
Tipper: No, I thought about it a lot on the way over
Dave the Bear: Do you even know how to drive an automatic?
Tipper: You know why.
Jack Fuller: [standing outside the bathroom door] Can you hurry up?
Joy McNally: [from inside the bathroom, taking her time] Almost done!
[walks into the kitchen to find Jack pissing in their sink]
Jack Fuller: Oh yeah, this is really happening. Oh, and it's your day
for dishes.
Hater: I'm the law, bitch!
Jack Fuller: How hard can it be?
Joy McNally: I know how hard it isn't.
Jack Fuller: ...We got robbed. All they took was the door.
Jack Fuller Sr.: You're like a son to me.
Jack Fuller: Dad, I am your son.
Banger: So you're the lucky guy?
Jack Fuller: Yeah, Jack Fuller [shakes Banger's hand]
Banger: Hi, i'm Richard Banger, you're in my seat!
Jack Fuller: Hold on a second, your name is Richard Banger?
Banger: Yeah!
Jack Fuller: So your name is Dick Banger! Dick Banger! Dick Banger!,
you my friend have supplied us with jokes for the whole weekend.
Banger: And you must be Jack? Jack off! Jack off!, give it to me
baby!
[Jack & Banger embrace each other]
Jack Fuller: And the old man is quick enough to think of a comeback
Jack Fuller: Jack off!, I actually like that
Tipper: I just wanna junk-punch him in his man business.
Joy McNally: That's just the topping I wanted on my popcorn. I know
the box said its movie theater butter, but you guessed it. What I
really wanted was Jack's Sweaty ballsack flavor!
Jack Fuller: I'm just giving you what you want, baby.
Hater: This is my lesbian sister. Tell them about your softball team,
tell them about your team.
Tipper: If I could kill someone with my mind right now, it would be
you.
Judge R. D. Whopper: ...Listen, I've been married for twenty five
years to the same wonderful, infuriating woman. And granted there
are days when I want to light her on fire but I don't, because I
love her. And that would be illegal. And you know something, and I
might be old fashioned but when I said those vows, I meant them.
Jack Fuller: I did take myself out of the game. If you stop betting,
you never have to lose.
Joy McNally: Is there any part of the night, I don't know, maybe say
the part where I was about to marry the rebound guy, that you
thought, 'hey oh my God, this is a really good time for an
intervention'?
Tipper: [extremely hungover] Seriously?
Joy McNally: Yeah.
Tipper: I like... threw up in my own purse... so...
Jack Fuller: Hey, don't get hit by a bus [door slams behind Joy]. Or
do, whatever.
Joy McNally: The grown-ups have to go to work today... What are you
going to do all day?
Jack Fuller: I don't know yet [shoves cereal in mouth]
Joy McNally: Hmph.
Jack Fuller: I'd rather do nothing and be happy than do something I
know I don't love.
Joy McNally: Words to live by, Yanni.
Hater: I can have a vial of crabs here in 30 minutes.
Jack Fuller: Will to be married to me... again?
Joy McNally: [sighs] Being with you makes me be myself again so I
will be married to you... again.
[they kiss]
Joy McNally: I quit my job.
Jack Fuller: Good thing we have a ton of money!
Jack Fuller: Where's the one place where you can step up and be a
man?
Hater: Community college?
Chong: Be whoever you want to be, you'll still gonna be my
subordinate.
Joy McNally: Excuse me?
Chong: It's from the Latin, meaning "my bitch."
Mason: Well, this is my place so technically you'd be the one... who
has to leave, but...are you crying?
Mason: [switches on light]
Tipper: Surprise...
Mason: Oh... shit balls...
Hater: Lavender, you get on my head.
Chong: I eat girls like you.
Joy McNally: You eat girls?
Chong: That's not what I me...
Joy McNally: No, makes sense.
Chong: No! I'm not...
Joy McNally: Totally understandable.
Hater: I didn't invent hip hop... but I was there!
Hater: You should never let a chick get in your head; that's why I
prefer not to even talk to my dates.
Jack Fuller: It's like you're trying to come in first, but it's
someone else's race.
Jack Fuller: [accepting an award] I have to thank my wife Joy. She
probably never told you all the story about how we met. It might
come as a surprise to many of you that we didn't know each other
for very long before we got hitched. What can I say - when you
know, you know.
Jack Fuller: If you stop betting, you never have to lose.
Joy McNally: I'd bet on you, Jack.
Hater: Take him to court. It might be nice.
Jack Fuller: What am I going to do about money?
Hater: Wow, you're just realizing that, right now? Fascinating.
Hater: [talking to tipper] You know what stripper? You're kind of a
disgusting skank.
Hater: You're falling for your wife! Idiot!
