| Plot: | Ben Singer sees the glass half full... of polluted water. He bums out his co-workers at a dead-end job proof-reading at a law firm, his ex-wife who's remarried to a Hollywood exec, and his pre-teen daughter who can't handle the negativity. Only his flat-mate, Ibu, a Senegalese security guard, and the old guys at a music store where he jams on acoustic guitar enjoy his company. When Ibu goes into a diabetic coma, Ben invites Ibu's sister, Khadi, to stay with him while she visits her brother from Dakar. She tries to break through Ben's shell with the message that emotions can be magic. He keeps that door closed and may also lose his daughter's affection. Will he ever see possibility? |

Revealing mistakes: The chess board Ben and Ibou are playing on is placed wrongly. The rightmost square on the row nearest each player is not a white square but a black one. Continuity: The daughter is hiding from him. He is parked outside his old home. When the daughter looks out her window she sees him in the car, with a baseball hat on. Close-ups of him show him as hatless. Revealing mistakes: When Ben folds Ibou's hands after finding him on his bed, you can see Ibou's left hand twitch slightly before Ben touches it. |

Ben Singer: [His car's out of gas] What kind of neighborhood doesn't have a gas station? Khadi: We are like lion and hippo trying to mate. Ben Singer: Which one's the hippo? Khadi: You. Ibu: Maybe you should look at the world as your friend. Ben Singer: Yeah, as soon as I see fish falling from the sky. Ibu: Has anyone ever told you that maybe you are a bit too negative Ben? Ben Singer: [Stares at the Man] Who are you? Are you God? |
