| Plot: | Danny and Walter are two brothers who barely get along even while driving their parents to distraction as their older sister tries to ignore them. Despite their squabbling, the brothers manage cooperate enough to play an old mechanical board game named Zathura. However, after their first move, they find that the game has apparently flung them, their sister and their entire house into outer space. Furthermore, the brothers surmise the only way to return home is to finish the game. However with almost every move, new dangers arise as the siblings find themselves learning to cooperate in ways they never expected as they realize what they mean to each other. |

Continuity: When Walter is watching "SportsCenter" (1979), he changes positions between the one close-up of his head and then the medium shot of him on the chair. Continuity: When the father goes into Lisa's room to wake her up, she is seen sleeping with a bunch of white colored pillows. A shot later, there is a purple pillow next to her. A few more shots later, the pillow is gone. Continuity: From the point where Danny is behind the wall listening to Walter complain to his father about the fact that he works too much to the point where Danny knocks over the fruit punch that spills over his father's picture, his hair is sometimes parted and sometimes not. Continuity: When the Zorgons first appear, they shoot out the windows in the kitchen. But later, when the astronaut is telling the kids to shut off all the lights, the windows are intact. Continuity: Walter's hair changes style frequently throughout the movie, even though the film is set in one day. Fact errors: When the house passes too close to Tsouris-3 and enters its gravity field, objects in the house and attached to the house begin to fall toward Tsouris-3 and away from the house, but all objects, including the house itself, would be subject to the same gravitational force and would fall toward Tsouris-3 together, as demonstrated by Galileo at the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Continuity: The circular saw that the defective robot grabs from the hatch in its back is shown in most shots to be held closely between the robots two fingers - except when the saw is being used to cut the fireplace; here the saw is shown to have a large hub between the blade and the holding fingers. FAIR: When the astronaut sets fire to the sofa and kicks it out of the door into space, the couch shouldn't burn because there is no oxygen. Given that the characters can go outside and breathe without any harm, such a detail can to be excused. CHAR: Danny asks his father to play "Smash Brothers". This is an obvious reference to a series of Nintendo games titled "Super Smash Bros." that is only available on the Gamecube and Nintendo 64. Danny is holding Sony Playstation 2 controllers. Continuity: When Danny get a card that says "Shipmate enters cryonic sleep for 5 turns," it actually takes 8 turns. Continuity: Josh Hutcherson's (Walter) hair changes style frequently throughout the movie, even though the film is set in one day. |

Danny: I'm hungry. Can you make me some macaroni-and-cheese? Walter: Don't know how. Danny: but, I'm hungry; what *do* you know how to make? Walter: Water. Danny: Zorgons are the lizardmen. They eat meat and we are MEAT! Walter: [to robot] Get me a juice box, BIATCH! Walter: ...and then the card comes out... Danny: Oh, the card. The card. The card. The... Danny: THE CARD! Walter: There's no water, dummy, we're in outer space. [Danny turns the water on] Why're you doing that? Danny: Beacuse I'm hungry and I know you're not goiong to take care of me. Walter: Don't bother; the gas won't work. Danny: [turns the stove on] Any more advice? Danny: Does cryonic mean ice? Walter: [last lines to Lisa] Still think I have gorgeous eyes? Danny: Wow! Outer space! Walter: No... it's just nighttime. Danny: I don't know, Walter... it never looked so *close* before. Danny: Your're gonna leave us alone in this creepy old house? Dad: It's not creepy, it's old. Walter: I like mom's better. Dad: Well, so did she and now it's hers. Astronaut: Are you telling me to leave? Walter: Well, once you're finished eating... yeah. Astronaut: Well, he spun me... Astronaut: [points at Danny] Astronaut: ...so he has to decide. Walter: [pulls out card] Well I'm Fleet Admiral, and I'm telling you to hit the road. Astronaut: Oh... I'm sorry... I didn't know. Oh, you know what... Astronaut: [pulls out a card] Astronaut: I'm Fleet Admiral too! It's just a card, bugnuts! Astronaut: [points to Danny] He spun me! [repeated line] Walter: You're such a baby! Walter: [reads card] Meteorites. Take erasive action. Danny: What does that mean? Walter: I don't know, it just says "Meteorites. Walter: [reads card] Rescue stranded astronaut! Danny: Wanna play Stratego? Walter: No, you always cheat at board games. Danny: But you can't even cheat at Stratego! Walter: Trust me, you'll find a way. Walter: [reads game instructions] "Zathura: Attention space-adventurers, Zathura awaits. Do you have what it takes to navigate the galaxy? It's not for the faint of heart, for once you embark upon your journey there's no turning back until Zathura's reached. Pieces reset at the end of each game. Play again and again for differnt adventures." Danny: It's just a goat. It's just a goat. It's just a goat. [sees it has four eyes] Danny: It's not a goat. It's not a goat. It's not a goat. It's not a goat. It's not a goat. Dad: By the way, it makes me uncomfortable when you say "hooking up". Lisa: Why? It's not like it means anything. Dad: Hope it doesn't. Lisa: It doesn't. It's just an expression. Dad: Hope it is. Lisa: It is! God, when should never have rented Thirteen. Danny: [throws glove at Walter] You're such a dick! Walter: I wish the astronaut had his brother back. Danny: [when a tiny meteor shatters the urn above their fireplace] Grandma! Danny: A card came out! Walter: Fascinating! Danny: [Running around in circles as meteors bombard the living room] Take evasive action! Take evasive action! Danny: God, I suck! [repeated line] Lisa: I'll never leave you. Walter: Do not push the button. Danny: [game says "Flunk Space Academy, go back 1 space] I'm not even going to comment on that. [repeated line] Robot: Alien life form. Must destroy. Lisa: Lisa is upstairs! |
